Just pulled back into my driveway after a weekend in Wisconsin. @Kennedy did you hear this yet? Justin Vernon busted out an unreleased song and it's one of the prettiest things I've ever heard.

I have tomorrow off so it's time to drink beers and catch up on the thread.

Nope. It's a song written during the making of For Emma that was never released. It's out of this world. First/last time he ever played it.

So I’m listening to this and thinking “this is really amazing”, then the second he left falsetto and went into his standard register I about died

 

so i just remembered that this band was good and i thought @teebs41 would want to listen

that is all

 

damn then someone else reminded me of this band, this was great too

 

now i'm just talking my stream of consciousness in here

that decoder album had potential too, sucks they broke up so soon

also was cool that the old versaemerge singer was in that band too lol

though the second sierra EP had some jams too

this has been cwhit's train of thoughts

 

That Harvard record is amazing but I wasn’t a fan of their record that would follow.



Also, In Medias Res is such an incredible record. Weren’t like 3 of the guys in the band brothers? Anyway, their harmonies they would do while playing the most ridiculously technical guitar parts were insane. I love that record a lot. Good memories to both those albums from years ago.

 

I remember hearing “French Girls” on that Harvard record and it being all I listened to for weeks at the time

this weekend was cool, its nice having new music to dig into. this felt like the first BIG release date of the year for me

 

Today I recorded two songs for this month's Chorus Comp (one of which has me rapping lmfao), which is the first time I've recorded anything in about two years. It feels good to make stuff again, even if it's terrible.

Also saw Black Panther last night, which was fucking incredible, and just finished watching Cloverfield Paradox, which was markedly much less incredible but better than what a lot of folks have been saying.

Edit: Also listened to the new American Pleasure Club and Pianos Become the Teeth, both of which are potential AOTY list contenders.

i've been coming back to Good Tiger a lot, nice sleeper album, might slide in at number 3 of 2018 so far for me.
