What if the name of that last Tool album was an easter egg of the release date of the next tool album. We still have like 15.5 years to wait.

 

Listening to the Harm's Way album PostHuman now and so far, it is the best 2018 to me. That is my new list. I think Sevendust has a new one coming out though and those guys never disappoint.

@littlejohn since you've decided to dial back and clearly know last night was an exaggeration, I'm going to stop my write-up, but I will share what I had so far. "Ouija Board" sounds SO much like Tool. I think you based that opinion on that song solely. Oh, and of course I can't end this without saying ALFM

Ouija Board- Sounds heavily influenced by Tool in some of the guitar structures. Vocals sound nothing like Tool. Musically sounds so much like Tool
An Island- I don't hear any Tool influence in this song. Sounds like a standard Chevelle song.
Take Out The Gunman- Again sounds like a standard Chevelle song. The only thing that has any similarity to a Tool song is the fact that the drummer uses a high tom for 20 seconds that Danny Carey uses heavily in Tool's music.
Jawbreaker- I don't even hear any Tool influence on this. Standard Chevelle song
Hunter Eats Hunter- I don't even hear any Tool influence on this. Standard Chevelle song
One Ocean- I don't even hear any Tool influence on this. Standard Chevelle song

also I was being a tiny bit hyperbolic when I said it was an album of covers, obviously it's not. but I could definitely see way more tool influence than you do. I don't listen to as many bands as you do so you might hear other influences that I don't, but I definitely hear a lot of tool in that album.

it's a great (tool influenced)album

 

You quit before Choking Game. That's my favorite off that album with Ouija Board closely behind.

 

Step 1 - Commit a crime.
Step 2 - Get caught commiting said crime.
Step 3 - Confess to commiting said crime.
Step 4 - Insult the jury and/or judge
End Result: No acces to account 15 to 20 years.

and like I said last night, the first time I heard Take out the gunman on the radio it sounded like tool. that's what drove me to check out their album. I was only a casual fan and hadn't heard any chevelle since like 2005 really.

the first track definitely sounded like tool. but I can't not hear it every time I listen to track 3.
