Sometimes I hate my job.

 

Almost 22 months. But my daughter has been showing signs she's ready for a while now and we've been doing some training and using the potty slowly, and reading lots of books about it.

But we're going to try 2 days, no clothes, sit on the potty every 20 minutes or so, small rewards when they go in the potty, etc. and see what sticks.

 

I think we should start a petition to bring back @blakebeats

That’s early but good for you for trying! My son turned 2 this month and we are doing it with him and he is doing amazing. It helps my wife is a BCBA and knows how to help mold behaviors. Pro tip: the second they go, instantly reward them with a small treat BEFORE taking them off the toilet so they associate going with a reward.

my daughter is finally fully potty trained. she's 4 it took a long time with her.

but my son who is almost 3 is poop trained but still pees in diaper all the time. it's not his fault after the disaster with my daughter by trying to potty train her too early too many different methods and other issues we've taken a more relaxed approach with him.

we've been telling him when he's 3 we're not going to have any more diapers for him so he's going to have to go to the potty.. he's already pretty good about going when we remind him, it's just more of him needing to do it on his own.

also my wife is working at a school for kids with special needs with BCBAs, she's not one, but she was a teacher for a few years with inclusion classes and she's done lots of trainings and other stuff while shes' getting her masters in counseling, she just started working there about a month ago and I've noticed that it's helping all of us change our behaviors with our kids. does wonders.

that looks like a terrible training video. I don't think OSHA would like some of those scenes, like standing on eachothers shoulders to clean the lights, jumping over the counters and stuff like that.

 

She is changing your behaviors too? Haha!

 

Thanks for the tip, we'll definitely do that!

We're trying because my daughter is showing all the signs she's ready. It doesn't happen every time, but often she will tell us when she has to pee or poop and we'll get her on the potty and she goes; so far the only rewards have been praise, but she's still into it. . She's also really into pointing out when she farts, and taking her diaper off.

They also are both starting to want diaper changes as soon as they go, plus there's no way we could train just one of them and leave the other out, they'd get way too upset.

We also have baby number 3 due right around the time they turn 2 and don't really want 3 kids in diapers at one time, so this is kind of our last chance to start doing this. We're not expecting them to be fully trained after this weekend, but just take some steps toward it and we'll keep working on it.

mostly just some things about how we respond to the kids. my kids are super whiny sometimes and it's incredibly irritating.
