    I completely agree with you!!!

And for the record, I still have not listened to Shrine - I will definitely get to it today. I'm looking forward to it though because I like The Republic Of Wolves and there are several people on here who my musical tastes often align with that have enjoyed it a lot.

Yes...but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts

You're right, it's not. I was wondering this morning how the album would have sounded if there hadn't been a dozen RIYL Brand New references before first listen.

It was a silly stream of consciousness; this reason for feeling uncomfortable while listening, because of another band's actions, is kind of asinine. I'm giving Shrine another go today.

kidding, glad you have a lot of replay value ahead of you!"Bask" and the lead guitar on it are my favorite after 3 listens. What is yours?
Thanks for saying this, made me feel a little less crazy. I'm gonna give it a fourth go 'round and ignore the knot this time, and everything associated with it.

So I'm probably going to go to one of these shows with my dad:

    Everclear/Local H/Marcy Playground

    Gin Blossoms/Tonic/Vertical Horizon

They're back-to-back nights and due to work schedules, money, etc. going to both of them just isn't going to work.

What would you guys do? I haven't seen any of those 6 groups live before, but I do enjoy songs from each of them. I'll ask my dad if he has a preference, but I'm guessing he'll just say it's up to me.

as soon as I saw those lyrics you posted that song was in my head.

I'd probably go to the first one.

I only know a handful of songs from those artists but I think I know more everclear than any of the others.

They tore a hole right through my soul
I could have hid it years ago
Always assumed that it'd be a phase
I should have this all worked out at my age

Some days I feel like crying
And I know you feel that too
But life don't seem as dark when I sing with you
    With you

    Whoa-oh, whoa-oh, whoa-oh-oh-oh
    I choose to live
    Whoa-oh, whoa-oh, whoa-oh-oh-oh
    I choose to live

Young enough to still have our hearts
    Old enough to fall apart
And now we're drinking in the park
In our thirties, in our aging skin at dark

Some days I feel like crying
And I know you feel it too
But life don't seem as dark when I sing with you
    With you

    Whoa-oh, whoa-oh, whoa-oh-oh-oh
    I choose to live
    Whoa-oh, whoa-oh, whoa-oh-oh-oh
    I choose to live

    Summerland tour with Everclear!

They were my second favorite band: Metallica –> Everclear –> blink-182 –> Thrice

I've been listening to Panic At the Disco, which made "Panic" by Name Taken get stuck in my head. This album is so catchy, it's a shame they never blew up.

This is tough, as they are both good lineups. I would say Everclear show edges out the Gin Blossoms show.

I'll let you guys know what we end up going with!

They are in June (Everclear on the 13th and Gin Blossoms on the 14th) so I have a little while to figure it out. I wish they were spaced out a little more so I could go to both, but there's not much I can do about that!

Speaking of Local H, did Triple Fast Action ever gain any popularity outside of Chicago? They were more '90's local heroes but my viewpoint is skewed:

Cattlemen Don't, by Triple Fast Action
