Cool. I thought you’d dig Colored Out too since it’s so catchy and reminds me of Northstar.

It was up there, although I didn’t get the Northstar vibe

I’m inclined to agree with you. Not that Jesse Lacey ruined all music, but that the similarities are too there. If I didn’t know better I’d have thought this was BN putting out another album. Perhaps that is what prevented me from liking it more, I felt a knot in my stomach when I was done listening. I am happy it’s filling the void for some people, though. No hating.

    Sleekest of beaks. So Good.

You're locked in a room. In order to be released you either have to listen to The Canyon or Science Fiction in it's entirety. What do you choose?

The Canyon, I’d rather take a nice nap than feel disgusted

    Nevermind holds up so well.

The drums really punch and I love it.

Same. That and I have no real qualms with The Used, just thought The Canyon was bad.

Wild you rather listen to The Canyon or the new 3dg

It would've been interesting to see what the public perception of the album would've been if it was trimmed down to 35-40 minutes

I've only listened to it in full once and there is really only one track (Funeral Post) that I've returned to

Just wanna throw this out there, TROW isnt filling any type of "void" for me, its just a good album

that band has nothing to do with Brand New for me *shrugs*

It's important to note that most if not all of us listened to The Republic Of Wolves prior to this record. We're not all lost and looking for a replacement band.

Having said that, I respect anyone's opinion on not wanting to listen due to similarities because everyone has and will continue to cope with the fallout of Brand New differently.

It would be a middle of the road The Used record if it was shorter. Even with it's length it's better than Imaginary Enemy.
Upper Falls is so good though!

AMC did that to everyone's recordings. It's a standard The Walking Dead episode, with the first episode The Terror after it. They also didn't play the preview for next week's after. You had to watch until the first commercial break of The Terror for the preview for next week's The Walking Dead.

I thought the first episode of The Terror was very good(technically two episodes- it was a 2 hour premiere last night) but I can't stand when TV Stations do that kind of stuff to force their new shows on people

I said it before that I was never a fan of Brand New so I don’t have that connection and I’m not looking to fill the void of losing them. With that being said, I think this TROW record is good but it’s not going to change my life.

I can definitely see the comparisons to Brand New and if this band/record fills that void, I’m happy for you.

I also think if anyone has that opinion or inclination or whatever, that’s fine, but I do see it importsnt to make that’s personal private affair? I dno, just cause this band has virtually no affiliation with Brand New. Their public reputation doesn’t deserved to be tarnished.

I’m not pissed or hostile Hope this doesn’t come off as such

    Well said @Larry David

Personally, I'm not looking for any band to fill a void. There are hundreds of bands I enjoy and I look forward to new releases by all of them and discovering new artists (and older artists) that I never got around to experiencing.

You have to respect the people that may turn this record on and instantly get a bad taste in their mouth because of some of the similarities they draw to Brand New and their recent events.

I honestly don't care what anybody else listens to. If someone doesn't want to listen to a band because they remind them of another band that they used to like, that's fine. I don't think anyone's arguing that point. As far as who they are as people though, it's important to remember that The Republic Of Wolves are not Brand New.

But this is what’s making me uncomfortable about this conversation and situation. There are people on this forum that are loving this record. And are loving it for what it is - a Republic Of Wolves album.

We also have users that don’t want to listen because they feel it reminds them of Brand New - which is fine. You’re totally entitled to that opinion, feeling, decision, whatever.

BUT, what makes me uncomfortable is the discussion around it because - and i know this isn’t any bodies intention - it creates moral grounds. “Should I listen to this if it’s reminds people of Brand New?”, “should I feel bad listening to this to?”.

I don’t think this conversation is totally fair to fans of TROW because it risks them feeling like their doing something dirty or wrong when they’re not. This band has 0 to do with Brand New. So if people are having these feelings, I think it’s best to have them personally and move on. But i don’t think it’s fair to keep connecting these two bands publicly, and creating a connection that actually doesn’t exist.

Absolutely. As someone who didn’t fawn over Brand New I had no expectations with this TROW record and from a neutral standpoint, it’s a good album. Is it life changing for me? No, but I respect those that think otherwise.
