If it's who I'm thinking, I saw them open for Aaron West at the beat kitchen in decemeber. I was really impressed and wanted to check them out but it slipped my mind, so thanks for the reminder!
The Walters have some decent buzz. Whitney and Cullen Omori are the remnants of Smith Westerns. Whitney particularly got a ton of positive reception from the press. Gemini Club was one from a few years back I remember, looks like they just put out an album this year. White Mystery is another big one. Pretty sure they've had some big buzz. The Orwells have a new album coming. The Gold Web is a personal favorite, saw them once and it was interesting to say the least. Chicago hip hop is unparalleled right now.
They really are! Also, I just discovered Noumenon - also from Chicago. The one ep was from 2010 but they are really good if you like riffy math
