I really like this except for "Chaise Longue" which I really really really do not like.

 

Chaise Longue instantly drew me in, so fucking catchy. Then the rest of the album happened to be good as well.

VALIDATION

 

This is one of the best debut albums ever. Every song is hot fire.

 

12 straight bangers, exactly what I was hoping for. Incredible sequencing, the singles give you that jolt every other song or so. Really glad I didn’t overplay the closer, so good. Whole thing reminds me of the magic of Icona Pop’s debut album though of course very different music.

gotta check this out. heard a lot of comparisons to Dry Cleaning whose vocals I cannot get into at all, if this is similar instrumentally I'm down tho

This is the type of album/artist where I’m immediately down to follow along for their career and very interested to see what they’re doing / sound like in 10-15 years.

 

They could make the same album four more times and never recapture this debut energy or they could go in wild directions. The nice thing is that we have this right now!

 

It is crazy to me that this band has been so polarizing.

 

i love the dry cleaning album but this sounds nothing like it. pretty upbeat and fun.

 

yeah, anyone comparing this to dry cleaning is like wildly off the mark haha

 

it isn’t really post punk at all. there’s some stuff that borders on shoegaze but for the most part it reminds me of the garage rock stuff of the 00s but poppier

 

this honestly feels like a pretty standard indie pop record to me. theres no post punk in this at all really except that theyre british

 

they've never even been post-punk a little bit. not part of that wider scene at all imo

 

to that point, if you're british and you pick up a microphone, you're instantly at 80% post punk

 

i mean i agree, i’ve heard that tag mentioned with them more than a handful of times though

 

always knew Charli XCX and the Spice Girls were post punk

I like this. not reinventing the wheel or anything but there’s enough here that’s pretty interesting and/or provides ear candy, the songs are sorta conversational feeling, snide, and very catchy. production is on point too.
