Oh shit really? I thought they just needed one more season to wrap it up and possibly make up for its faults as a whole. This is pretty disappointing, I really felt like closure could have made the show better overall but now..? Ugh I don’t even know if a rewatch is worth it anymore which I’d been holding off til the series finale.
Surprised it went on as long as it did. I don’t remember much of S2 other than it felt like work to watch it. Didn’t have the stamina to carry on after that. Guessing others felt the same & deserted it.
I watched season 1 and made it a couple of episodes into season 2 before bailing. Never felt worth it.
Just saw the news now! Damn! I really thought we were gonna get one more season to hopefully wrap the story up. Fuuuuuuuck. It wasn't like super great or anything but I was invested in the end of the story haha
Shows leaving streaming are beyond fucked, I hope there are people out there collecting digital files of all streaming shows for the future.
Can anyone explain the reasoning behind this? Do they have to pay the actors royalties based off streams if they leave them up?
The article makes it sound like they're just shuffling content to some new service they're cooking up, but I honestly didn't care enough about the article to understand what I was reading.
Is that really the issue? Or are they trying to tap into people's FOMO in order to retain subscriptions? If you lower the value of your back catalogue, people weirdly might be more willing to pay more. Like right now, I'm content subscribing to HBO for a few months a year to watch Succession and catch up on everything else while I do that. So no need to watch HOTD or White Lotus S2 as it airs, I'll just watch it all during the Succession months and save some money HBO would definitely rather I stay subscribed all year long. And one way to possibly do that is to make content less available after it airs so you can't binge it all in a couple of months.
I ordered S4 on DVD so I'll have the whole series They threw Batgirl into a vault. I'm not taking any chances.
think of how much time, money, human energy, & natural resources from the planet went into that series just for it to vanish in the blink of an eye. Of course our species is doomed.
I'm still pissed it was cancelled because I was interested in the story again. They still had a tendency to get a little confusing for me towards the end of the seasons but I still liked it. Was interested to see what would go on with the Sublime/if we'd get to see more old characters and such that had crossed over
If it wasn't such an expensive show I would 100% expect another network to pick it up for a final season.... But at this point I find it unlikely. Who knows though, anything can happen
YEah that was my same thought process, like it seems perfect for someone else to pick it up and let them finish it, but the cost is so high to produce it well that it probably can't happen
I don't see it happening, but the only service I could see picking this up for the final season would be Prime. It just doesn't seem like it would fit on any other service.
