Any flaws aside though I'm enjoying the show. It's not the best but I like the mystery of it and am looking forward to next season.
Just got lost in the Westworld Reddit for a good hour, I did come across this though which I thought was pretty cool Delos Board Members Revealed & Ford's Wall of Death Masks • /r/westworld [\spoiler]
I enjoyed season one for the cinematography, and for confronting the ethical and existential questions that advanced AI will bring. The twists weren't that surprising, plot holes popped up too often, and the players in this story are either artificial, or total psychopaths driven by either a desire for money, or control.....but the show was still more mentally stimulating than most things on TV, so I liked it enough to see where things would go. Since the show is obviously inspired (at least in part) by videogames, I had fleeting moments of regret about the hundreds of characters i've killed in games like Red Dead Redemption, and various bethesda games, because (while far less advanced) those games are our current version of westworld. I think season 2 is gonna be a disaster that leaves almost all the more cerebral elements, and ethical questions behind, in exchange for direct conflict and over the top violence, but i've been wrong before. We can't be certain that our God is dead (or if our God is a figment of the imagination) but the host's God is very dead, and that's really the only thing i'm left interested in.......what will a collection of advanced Ai's do when unshackled by the beliefs that ground so many humans? I hope it's more complex than KILL ALL HUMANS. Edit:i'm full of shit.
I'm not sure I can agree with the criticism that there is no fun allowed in this show. The whole escape sequence in the finale alone was a joy to watch. He's just really into tabletop.
Still think they need to devote the entire second season to one of the other worlds. Love how we got a brief glimpse of the hosts in one of the other worlds.
I'd say so. Very interesting, although pretty confusing at times. I wish I could binge watch it having never seen it before because people cracked a lot of the twists before they happened. It's probably a little better in a few sittings.
Westworld Creators: Season 2 Will Shine Light On Guest Experience — 'Before the Mayhem Starts' Sounds like a lot of people's questions re: the logistics of the park are definitely going to be answered in S2.
Wrapped this up last night after watching over the past two weeks or so. Definitely some messy narratives/plot points in here but overall I really enjoyed this. For one, the multiple timelines thing didn't really work for me. Maybe I just wasn't paying as close of attention as I was supposed to though... I also wasn't sold on William's turn in essentially one episode. He went from this dopey guy to a frenzied psycho way too quickly and I didn't really think his character earned such a drastic change based on what we saw. Lots of other things but I don't want to create a huge list considering I did still have have a good time watching this season.
the finale left kind of a bad taste in my mouth. i still enjoyed the series and will watch the 2nd season, but im not really raving about this like other people and the finale played a large part in that i think. there was no need for it to be an hour and a half long
I'm in the same boat. Enjoy the show, but I don't necessarily like when they have such complicated plot points that aren't shown but are straight up explained instead. This show did that a lot where they take plot lines like the Maze and Williams transformation into MiB and have to have a character sit and just explain everything to the audience. It's just a little messy if they jump straight from William as the good guy to him being a psychopath within a week or so... instead of showing it gradually, William had to literally talk through his whole transformation. The Maze was talked about the whole season but when it was finally revealed you were just kind of like "....oh, ok I guess"
Season Finale really solidified my positive opinion of this show. Up until that final episode, I kept going back and forth between "great" & "hokey." Acting stayed top notch throughout the whole program though. Everyone is bringing their A-game to this series IMO.
