  1. Right. Does Ford explain his reasoning for his gradual change in perspective, be it cryptically or explicitly? Was it just because he spent so much time interacting with and working on the hosts over the years? Was it the remnants of Arnold's programming surfacing that pushed him? There's so much dialog, I feel like I've probably missed or forgotten some. Also, the "reveries" ended up being Arnold's implementation, right? Sorry, I'm springing these questions on you because you seem the most knowledgeable about the show in this thread ha.

for me it was Black Hole Sun (not radiohead but close).

edit: just saw on reddit, when looking for when this song played, this was 37 minutes into the first ep lmao. oh well.

I would not claim that title lol. But I don't recall Ford explaining exactly why he changed his mind, just that it was a gradual process over the last 3.5 decades. As for the reveries, wasn't it that Arnold coded them but Ford is the one who implemented them into the Hosts (with Bernard's help)?

  4. Oh, maybe that's it. So Arnold wrote the code, and Ford/Bernard implemented it in the beginning of the season to get the ball rolling on Ford's plan?

it seemed pretty clear to me that ford realized pretty soon after arnold's death/park opening that he had been right about the hosts developing sentience.

arnold wrote the reverie code and implemented it at least in dolores originally. ford started introducing it to more and more hosts at the start of this season because he felt enough time and experience had accrued for the hosts to start responding and developing the consciousness she had had.

in six weeks time felix went from barely being able to program a bird to fly right side up to jumpstarting maeve's code, reanimating bernard, and apparently shutting down most of the security systems in the park. talk about a glo up

I may have missed it in here but has anyone mentioned that close-up on Bernard and Ford's hands when they shook hands at the end? Looked to me like there was a strange bump on Ford's hand which leads me to believe it may not have actually been the real/human Ford in that scene or the next where Dolores kills him. I'm mostly suspicious because they put a lot of emphasis on the handshake by zooming into it wicked close and in the past I'm pretty sure Ford or some one else mentioned that there was a telltale sign of being a host based on a simple handshake. I'd say I'm overthinking but who the hell knows with this show.

I'm assuming they killed Chris Hemsworth Jr last episode because he was catching on that Bernard was a host. They kinda just left that open. A lot of employees go missing without anyone noticing as well.

In the film, the only way to tell a Host from a guest was their palms, which had odd bumps on them that the designers could never get rid of. So there could be something to this theory, although I would be severely disappointed if Ford isn't really dead. It would suck the weight right out of this finale.

I really wanted to see more of the last scene. The fallout would have been interesting to see.

I'm thinking there's no way Maeve made back inside the park. What do you think? And do we know who went in and changed her role to try and escape?

  16. I think a more likely theory than Ford not dying would be him uploading his consciousness to a host before dying. Like Anthony said, Ford being alive would completely remove the impact of the finale and render that whole climax a lot less meaningful.

Prevailing theory is Ford did it as a distraction/to get the command center to go into lockdown mode while massacre 2.0 occurred.

I can kind of see that, but hasn't she been plotting escaping for over half the season? And we were just informed of the changes made to her character in the finale, right?

If that was his plan he had to have a lot of things to go right for it to work, especially her trying to leave right in the middle of his speech.

Depends. If Maeve is scripted entirely then it probably didn't require much timing on his part at all beyond coding her to do certain things at certain times

Having the humans do exactly what she wants though?

EDIT: like the 2 butcher guys that helped her. How would he know they would go along with it?

Well...what if they aren't human? Or maybe ford recruited them or instructed them to do it? Or knew Maeve would be able to cajole someone and just needed the process to start so he could Time *his* side of things?

seems like there were easter eggs pointing towards the finale as early as episode 6

Ford's also had this plan in place for a while. On Reddit, there are screenshots from past episodes that hint at this plan when there are scenes of him in his office (there's a chalkboard that maps out Meave's plan, Ford hovering over a 3D diagram of the ending scene, etc.)

EDIT: what timing with the above post
