yeah if that wasn't obvious before they made sure to give it away so hard in the scene before when he couldn't see the door and explains the hosts can't see things smdh
It's absolutely clumsy but something about the fandom for this doesn't make me hate it as much as something like TD. I think that most people, at least the ones that I talk to about the show, are recognizing the faults and criticizing the show while still enjoying the basic plot points. The infallibility attached to a lot of the "prestige" shows coming from cable networks doesn't seem to be at play here. It's flawed, it's clumsy but at the same time I can find enjoyment in it. It's an entertaining show, albeit a bit boring at times.
i forget which it was but a pod i listen to was discussing the show and that it's more fun to discuss the show and theorize than it is to actually watch the show itself. i don't think that's entirely a bad thing, and it's a credit to the writers for being able to craft questions that people are interested in, but when they end up being as obvious as they were this week and when there is little else to want to watch for, i think that verges into the not great, bob territory
This isn't specific to this series--literature and film have studied AI and how it deals with burgeoning sentience and morality for awhile. Do you not like, like, "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"
i know it isn't specific to the series, but it is a reason why i don't find the series gripping. i haven't read the book but i enjoy blade runner quite a bit, mainly because it succeeds where this show fails
I agree. I think my discussions about the show coupled with the fact that I'm not too interesting in reading all of the reddit subtheories about it has made it more enjoyable than if I were watching it alone. There are many parts of the show that I zone out to. Although, to be fair, that's also the reason why I still haven't gotten into GOT. This holds my attention more than that does.
I just finished episode four, but is this getting any better? I felt like the pilot was pretty good, but the next 3 episodes (despite having some interesting scenes here and there) have been fairly boring.
That's a complicated question. Or, rather, it's a complicated answer. It's a guilty pleasure. I'm fully cognizant of all of its flaws, but I'm just too invested to quit it. I am an enormous LOST fan, so maybe that explains it?
I haven't watched the Walking Dead since season 2. I remember liking it because the first season and a half felt philosophical, like Lost. Once Dale died though, it turned into bullshit "twisted" nonsense.
I wouldn't relegate this show to TWD levels, yet anyway. There are still new things to be learned, interesting dynamics that are playing out. They aren't just wandering around aimlessly. Regardless of whether or not you guessed the "big" twist, which most people did, what followed was shocking and not a direction I expected them to go
it didn't shock me that much bc it seems obvious that ford will make, or already has, a robot version of her to cover up for the real one's death. If it goes an opposite direction than that, i'll be surprised and maybe tune back in to see how it's handled
well yeah one can assume that will be the next course of action, but the brutality/switch that happened caught me off guard
