This sounds like a liberal argument that if you don’t agree with me your a racist, racist, bigot. Exactly what I just said and you quoted it. Again your already trying to find ways to say if you don’t see it my way your wrong.

I never once said anything about racial slurs or religions. You took it there, again what far left do. Make it emotional speaking points. Your trying to setup the parameters as to what you say is true and not. Both sides spew disinformation. The left is allowed to pick and choose what’s shared while the right is censored when it conflicts the far left narrative. half the countries views, again half the country or more are happy with Elon musk owning twitter. I personally could careless because I don’t have twitter as I have no reason to use it. There’s a double standard that the left ignores and they are provided cover for it.

Anyone talking about disinformation on any side I’m skeptical of because one should always do their own research. I now feel like both sides more so the left says give me your money because I know what’s best for you, no not you yourself. Obama literally looked like he was standing their saying vote democrat because you are to stupid to know what’s good for you and I’m the answer, I know what’s good for you.

Turn on Joy Reid for 10 minutes and all she does is foam at the mouth about racism this and that. Yet spews racism every opportunity she gets. And again the left doesn’t view her evil. The lady on MSNBC said he favorite day part of the day was covering Rand Paul got his ribs broken by the neighbors. If fox said that Jason along with all the other far left libs would go wild.

The discussion is about "free speech" on social media websites. The argument right wingers have been making for years now is they shouldn't be getting banned for saying racist/bigoted stuff on social media, but it has now expanded to being able to put out whatever disinformation you want to put out there as well (i.e. Trump with the election was stolen nonsense). Right wingers don't think you should be banned from social media sites for saying those things. That's why I brought up racism and bigotry. Reading is fundamental, etc.

And I brought that up because you said "jason/leftists believe that if you don't agree with them on anything you are wrong and evil". And I was saying, on this specific issue, if you don't believe that social media websites should moderate, delete, and ban that kind of content (racism/bigotry and blatant disinformation meant to foment insurrection and/or literally get people killed ala antivax stuff), then yes you are indeed definitely wrong, AND possibly evil depending on your motivation/reason for those beliefs lol. If you're just a dummy with a 10 year old's understanding of what "Freedom of speech" means, then you're probably not evil, just uninformed. If you want to be able to say racist slurs on social media without consequences.....evil starts to enter the conversation here. You dig?

Good reminder that Rand Paul got beat up by his neighbor because, by all accounts, Rand Paul was being a huge asshole of a neighbor. Like, legitimately doing stuff just to piss off his neighbor. We can debate whether that makes it right for the neighbor to do what he did, and most reasonable people would say okay probably not, violence is not the answer, etc. But the antecedent for what happened is there and it's one we all can relate to and maybe even have done ourselves in our lives (i.e. hit someone who was being a huge asshole to us). Meanwhile, Paul Pelosi got attacked by a random stranger simply for being married to the Speaker of the House, who said attacker was trying to assassinate due to political motivations, which we now know were at least in part inspired by the exact same disinformation we're talking about allowing on social media sites. And now those same disinfo campaigns are out there spouting off about gay lover conspiracies and etc. You do see how these two things are not comparable, yes?

My friend you are much to smart to feel as though people can’t figure out what’s true and what’s not. The left is just as guilty of disinformation as well. The problem with it all is who your choosing to moderate “disinformation”. All of the people chosen to moderate it always have far deep left ties. It’s not a neutral NFL referee. Anyways I’m going to go smoke a blunt on the beach and then see Demi Lovato tonight. Was not here to fight and argue with anyone, hope you all have a good day, week, year, etc. Hopefully in time everyone on all sides can come back down to earth and breathe and be there for each other rather then divided and against.

The irony of your final point, and I don't mean this as a criticism of the point, is that tying it back to the original story/thread is that an inherent problem of a platform like Twitter is that it has long exploited and ultimately grown the division in the name of engagement. The most extreme and divisive content (irrespective of political leanings) will grab the most attention and encourage more people to spew more extreme and divisive opinions - normalizing a culture of that. Elon would suggest that's needed more than ever, while I'd argue it only ensures what you're aspiring to (togetherness) is harder than ever to achieve.

How can you say that when twitter censored the hunter laptop. We now know it was 100% true and real.

Exactly. Far left or far right are basically the same people. It's hilarious.

Musk is really spooking mainstream advertisers, who were never too hot on Twitter to begin with. This is a fact. No enthusiasm among mainstream advertisers equals no social media platform worth even remotely what he paid for it, no matter how many get money quick schemes (like being "verified" for 8 bucks a month) Musk comes up with or how many niche advertisers the platform attracts. He played himself. He knows it too, which is why he tried to get out of it, until he realized he couldn't.

    Big facts.

The eyeballs might be there, but no mainstream brand wants to be associated with the emotions the people behind those eyeballs are feeling when they are looking at that shit.

He's a very polarizing figure... says a lot of stupid things, but has done a lot of things that has pushed for innovation at a much faster speed than what was previously thought possible when It comes to electric cars and space related things.

That's the thing with Elon, the work he's done with Tesla and SpaceX has really pushed innovation forward and anyone that says otherwise quite clearly doesn't know how many times he's been close to going bankrupt for what he believed were the right paths.

What I can't stand is the bullshit that comes with him and his choices in expression on Twitter.

And this cuts both ways, but someone could be a genius in certain segments of industry and potentially fail or have a lack of aptitude in others. Too often fans of a celebrity will paint them with one positive brush in which they can do no wrong, or critics of a celebrity will discount all of their accomplishments or abilities. With Elon, he's deservedly polarizing and I think there's enough exposure to his personal and professional life to acknowledge he's a world leader in some facets, and really questionable in others. Twitter is a business so far removed from his other businesses that he's nurtured to success, and with time we'll come to know where it lands on his ledger.

100% agree with you there. I'll honestly be surprised if he can make Twitter a success and profitable but only time will tell.

Don't get me wrong, I also don't think it's going to go well, my post wasn't intended a defense of him at all. More my observation of why debates about people or situations like this devolve the way they do.

I think he is a pretty good case of someone whose work is vastly overrated by his fans and relatively underrated by his detractors. Part of that is because he is an obnoxious, often morally questionable loudmouth.

Well put. He thinks he knows the solution to every problem and wants everyone to know it. As a transportation planner, I have very strong feelings about his promotion of hyperloop technology. He's obviously accomplished enough to deserve a huge platform, I just wish he'd use it more responsibly and with less hubris.
