i recently rewatched a DVD from 2014, crowd is dead/not moving.

Also watched a DVD from a show in 1999, crowd is just sitting there, slight movements. maybe it's just always been a thing? I've seen him about 15 times or so, didn't notice at any of them but it seems to be the case throughout.
