I guess I benefited from only listening to the leaked version once but this rocks, we are so back, etc.

At the risk of sounding miserable (lol), it 100% is striking while the iron is hot marketing wise due to the Go Away success. Crush Music, from what I’ve gleaned over the last several years, is super on top of marketing/promotion and Rivers has mentioned in interviews when it’s their idea to do XYZ with timing on when his music should be released. I do not like at all how they have timed releases or done teasing date drops that don’t produce anything material. It’s easy to become cynical about how they do things, IMO. It is a tad more than the usual roll out tactics.

That said, song is great. I don’t think Wednesday vocalist sounds out of place or hampers the song vs the non-duo vocal demo that was out. The actual music so far for this release has been incredibly solid and exciting.

The Wednesday verse is fine, but I would rather them waited to do this on the deluxe edition of this album and had the original released first but yeah, you're probably right, management probably asked them to do another collab since Go Away unexpectedly popped off.

Imagine time travelling to 1998 and attempting to explain to someone what Weezer will become.

It's still so weird that "Go Away" is doing so well. The idea that an album can have a hit single at any point in time is fascinating.

really leaning into a nasally vocal tone to the point where I found myself thinking ‘why’s he singing like he’s aziz ansari??’

I like this song a lot more than the last one

Also "Go Away" is one of the weaker tracks on EWBAITE imo. I would have loved "I've Had It Up To Here" or "Cleopatra" to pop off, but "Go Away" is just...safe, fine, meh.

I feel like the wait for Weezer album cycle usually goes on a lot longer than this so pretty excited to see the August date.

ive pretty much learned to like/ love every album besides Summer/ Hurley and this is already more promising than both so im happy

I agree. That lyric doesn’t stimulate the mind the way his invocation of Mendel experimenting with the pea did.

The chorus is catchy, Karly sounds good. Lyrics stink, Rivers sounds weird. Not good enough for me to go back to until the album is released.
