They named it the thing you have to do for it to be a good record. If the album was good, they’d have named it For Reals.
Ah confession time: I’ve only listened to raditude once and I can’t remember what any of the songs sound like..
Imagine if the guy who went on to produce Father of All Mother Fuckers told Rivers Cuomo that it didn’t matter if he made good music as long as it sounded like it was pumped with a deadly amount of production sugar and annoying melodies and then Rivers did that while accidentally also writing one good song.
Honestly Make Believe isnt bad Beverly Hills is just overplayed We’re All On Drugs is meh My Best Friend comes in so loud that it’s grating Everything else ranges from good to great
I always thought it was interesting that they made a mainstream pop sellout record with Raditude but didn’t push it like those kind of records are pushed. Why even make Can’t Stop Partying if you’re not going to make it a full blown single?
I've always said if you combined the best songs from Red and Raditide, you could create a very solid (or at least fun) Weezer album (obviously titles Reditude)
This is unironically why I love Rivers. I think he just does what he wants to. Crush seems to be way more specific about marketing the band any which way than he is lol
The Pacific Daydreams/ Black Album demos are funny for that reason it’s just Rivers trying hyperpop at points just because
I need someone to address the fact that Hurley has 5/10 very good songs. There are Weezer albums that have one or less good songs
Memories and Trainwrecks. Hang On and Time Flies are alright, not good enough for me to use as an example for a good album
Hurley isn't "good" but it's better than the bottom of their discography where fools and charlatans often rank it
I have probably asked before, but has anyone made like... a condensed 10-20 track best of demos for each album? There's so much it's just overwhelming
Hurley just sounds like fake Weezer tonme. It has all these collaborators but no distinct identity and the "good" songs sound like plastic copies of songs they've done better elsewhere Raditide is bad but occasionally fun - Hurley is mostly just boring. "Memories," "Unspoken," and "Time Flies," are solid. The bonus tracks (including the "Viva La Vida" cover and Yo Gabba Gabba song lol) are better than most of the record.
