This is one of the few bands I have no complaints on production on any record. It’s either great or elite.
I’m happy to hear people like the Green production because for a long time it seemed like people hated “The Green Sheen”, even the band: “Pat Wilson, prior to the album's release, said, "It's kind of like the first album, but more compressed." Karl Koch has stated in an Albumsix chat that it was an album that was awesome up until it was compressed and flattened by production near the end.” Weezer (The Green Album) - Weezerpedia
yeah that leaked pre-production version of Green sounds so much.... more like it was recorded by actual human beings lol. something weird happened with the final master on that record
I’m more fond of the production on OK Human and White, but Van Weezer and Green sound incredible but they are definitely their two most polished records.
I think it's a good thing that they haven't really had an album marred by terrible production. Just terrible songwriting, hey-o
Just listened to Green for the first time in like 15 years. The first 4 songs make it seem like it’s going to rival Pinkerton for my #2 Weezer album, but then it all goes downhill from there. The back half is just very meh. The album sounds great though.
The only thing I don’t like about the White recording is the brittle snare sound, which honestly sounds like it might have a sample from the Green snare tucked in. It’s not bad, but I don’t love it
I’d like to apologize for previously putting Green so low in my album rankings (last or second last?) I’ve been giving it a good shake recently, and in the last two days I’ve gone from feeling justified in thinking it’s vapid and boring and at least their second worst to being super excited to be bopping along to it. Some killer melodies on it, though I still think it plays it way too safe — the guitar solos get really grating on a full album listen, and I would prefer if Rivers vocals were a bit wilder, like in the 2005 live versions of Don’t Let Go Great album, though because I like all their albums it still would be close to the bottom for me I reckon it’d be above Hurley and Raditude, but now that I’m a changed man I’d have to re-examine those as well
