It IS their best album though, pretty much my go-to example of a "perfect" record. 10 absolute slammers
second listen of Van Weezer and I un-ironically think it's a really good album, I think the cheese around the album name and concept might have blinded me at first but this level of cheese is exactly what Weezer is and it works so well. As much as I do like OK Human overall, I think I gotta give the edge to VW. Personally, I just think their brand of cheese and lyrics work much better as power pop/rock tracks than stripped back orchestral tracks, they mesh more genuinely and I believe in the music more, for lack of better word. Like, I legit think that "pump it up into me, please daddy please" and the Blue Dream interpolations just feel more genuine with this music to back it up than it would on OKW. Anyway, both these albums are solid and this current era of Weezer is a very welcome surprise after PD/Black, glad to love this band forever and always
I’m a Green, Blue, and Maladroit Weezer guy. This one is pretty much what I’ve wanted from these guys for years. ETWBAITE and White are pretty close to it. I wish White had a bit more riffage though. Pacific Daydream might be favorite ‘experimental’ Weezer album front to back. If you even call it ‘experimental’ lol.
Damn, they sound great there. Song is growing on me, I just don't like Top 40 sounding backing vocals (synth?) during the intro and chorus
Got my vinyl today, so glad I opted to order the indie variant online, matches the cover perfectly and I paid substantially less on the shipping. Bonus tracks sound real nice.
Total left field question .... was Weezer up for Rock & Roll HOF last year like they should’ve been? I don’t recall reading anything about that , but if they aren’t / weren’t nominated, what in the actual fuck?
Absolutely absurd. Not that I give any credibility to that institution, but they just reaffirms most people’s qualms with it.
I mean just this thread alone to me could be used as proof that Weezer deserves to be in there. The strong opinions that the fanbase has say it all
Agreed. He did electric guitar versions of a couple OK Human tracks as well that I posted in that album thread.
