At this point in their career, I just want a fun Weezer album and this is exactly what I got. Would love for them to do more of this.
anyways, outside of all the good ones and hero i really enjoy this. those songs are abominations though haha. precious metal girl is great
This is a really fun listen. I've listened to the Wlyd Stallions version of BOTE so many times, that this new version just sounds off to me.
I like both new records I'm just surprised at how not stupid this one is compared to how stupid I expected it to be. Hero is great, had only heard it in the orchestra show before and I don't get how this version has been widely panned. Crazy Train is the most head scratching moment on here. That was a pretty solid song in demo form! Trash here.
This is really good, that crazy train riff song is too blatant of a ripoff through. The “Inspired by” of other songs is different than taking the same riffs (looking at you Kid Rock)
Hero, Sheila Can Do It, and Precious Metal Girl are great. The rest of the songs range from ok to good. The best part of this album is the lyrics don't all seem like they were written by a lyric generator. They feel a lot more authentic on a lot of these songs, even though they're still pretty dorky. But that's Weezer. I guess that makes sense though, if some of these songs are old? I don't really know the trivia, but yeah. Fun and quick album with a couple great songs that I will probably come back to.
OK Human has one absolute classic Weezer song and then goes down the same path with increasingly diminishing returns. I'll have to listen to this again but my first impression is that it's more fun but doesn't have a track as good as All My Favorite Songs.
The delivery of the pump it daddy line is less cringey than I expected but that song is way less good than I've seen here and the =w= board say. Not close to one of my favorites. Maybe a little more negative on the other 7 tracks than I am on first listen, but def my top 3 as well. 3 legitimately great songs right there.
I can already picture a sea of drunk college bros, shirtless and in flip flops, putting up their horns when Weezer busts into that "Crazy Train" riff live.
Haha you're probably right. Weezer setlists are pretty predictable. I bet they won't play a single song off of Ok Human.
I would. As the first of three headliners, they'll only get like an hour. The stadium full of casual fans wants hits! Buddy Holly Africa Pork and Beans Undone Hash Pipe (If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To Beverly Hills Island in the Sun Say It Ain't So That's already a big chunk of the set.
