I tried to make a playlist for a couple of my friends of 'great Weezer songs from after Maladroit' and it was shorter than I thought it would be tbh. But I'm more negative on EWBAITE than most.

Precious Metal Girl is one of their first songs in a while that truly nails the classic Weezer cheese without taking me out of the song.

On first listen, the only tracks I loved were End of the Game and Precious Metal. Album is decent enough - it’s fun, it’s corny, it’s Weezer - but I doubt I’ll return to it very often. And the please daddy line makes me want to die.

This one's already growing on me. It's dumb but also infectious

Oh my god the "please daddy pump it in me" line is one of the most baffling lyrics I've ever heard. I enjoyed the album, but I've been skipping that song because ew.

Weezer has been on a real hot streak every since EWBAITE. For long time fans that ran of Make Believe-Red-Raditude was TOUGH to work through so by the time Hurley came around everyone was a bit exhausted. Starting with their 2014, every album has been really cool in its own way with only the Black album occasionally dipping into some 00's level wackness. The two albums released this year are both great in their own way and showcase different sides of Rivers Cuomo's songwriting. Van Weezer is a great big rock album based on the 2-3 listens I've had.

Definitely. EWBAITE made me love the band again and I’ve (mostly) enjoyed every album they’ve put out since.

This really isn’t for me, but I also hate most 80s classic rock which is what it’s obviously riffing on lol. That’s ok, at least they released one album this year I enjoy!

i was on the focus group for EWBAITE and i'm a huge white album partisan so i feel like i want to like this record more than i think i do. the concept is extremely For Me. really think all the singles outside of "hero" slap and that "hero" is a weird song that only almost works. "crazy train" rip on "blue dream" only serves to remind me of how "crazy train" is a much better song than "blue dream." "1 more hit" is really good and the chorus melody reminds me of anime opening themes lol, wouldn't occur to me to object to a weezer song in 2021 because rivers wrote gross and terrible lyrics for it, what band are we listening to again. "sheila" is a great song that is... a little undermined by the production of this record? the "i got you babe" interpolation in the verses is hilarious tho

still, it's fun and nothing on it is outrageously terrible. whoever compared it with death to false metal was not correct

speaking of, once again there isn't a song as good as "blowin my stack"

Ok on second listen, I think this album is silly but no more stupid than anything else they’ve released in over a decade. It might actually be their most flat-out enjoyable since white even with the daddy line. I think the penultimate track sucks though.
