in some good news he's also teasing their next album (OK Human) and it truly sounds fucking spectacular. for those who haven't heard:

- piano and strings based album, influenced by Nilsson and Bacharach
- they recorded strings before everything else, at Abbey Road
- produced by Jake Sinclair, who produced White
- no co-writers at this stage, everything is by Rivers alone
- semi-concept album about technology, also about Rivers' everyday life
- Brian wanted it to call it "Masterpiece" (lmao)

not gonna lie, if they swapped VW for that I would not be complaining a bit

 

so into this haha

 

Apple Music lists this album as 7 minutes long, so a new song is definitely coming sometime soon

 

Yeah, track 3 has a length listed in iTunes now

 

Okay Human sounds sick and will probably be great but I’m so hyped for Van Weezer right now.

This getting delayed really sucks considering how long we’ve already waited.

 

Hopefully only a month or so.

 

it feels like we've been waiting ages, but in fairness it's only been a little over a year since Black. was two years between EWBAITE and White and again between Pacific Daydream and Black

 

I totally forgot The Black Album existed.

hey, we’re not the ones who announced a new album in September to be released so far in the future that it couldn’t possibly miss the target release date lol

 

Wonder if the lack of summer tour to promote the album release is what has caused the delay of the release... something tells me that is why it’s getting pushed/less because it isn’t ready or anything.

 

oh yeah it's def ready to go, they've mastered it and everything. gotta guess the record label is the one pushing it back (the rollout for Black was a mess thanks to them too)

 

Gonna hop on the Rivers zoom tonight.

I also find it hilarious that the email to submit questions to was clearly his and his wife’s wedding planning gmail haha

I'm far more excited for OK Human that I am for Van Weezer, but at this point I'll take anything.

 

Excited for Van Weezer. Hated the Black album. The only Weezer album that I can't see myself really going back to, ever.

 

If Black album really has a Homie song and possible POW than it is automatically in the running for top Post-Pinkerton.
