Haven't revisited Black as much as I'd hoped but there are some winners for sure. Still head over heels for Pacific Daydream, that one really, really grew on me
Listening to a lot of Fountains of Wayne today obviously, and there’s so much similarity in the songwriting with what 2000s Weezer was doing.
Black is the first record I listened to of theirs since Hurley and it was terrible, probably my least favorite record of theirs. I've heard good things about White though, will eventually give it a listen.
There is definitely some good tunes on every album but I’d say a large portion of albums have a less than 50% success rate
Make Believe through Hurley they probably average being 70% bad tbh. I'm just shocked that on every album they managed to have songs that I fully love lol
Being a Weezer fan is a rollercoaster for sure. No other band makes me feel so differently every album. I have never had a band go from love to really dislike and then back to love so hard through their discography (though post white has been on the downward trend again for me aside from a handful of super solid tracks on PD and Black)
i don't know how it's possible but i think "don't let go" is my favorite weezer song. somehow it's the one i listen to most.
Love - Blue, Pinkerton, Maladroit, EWBAITE, White Like - Green, PD, Black Meh - Red, Hurley Hate - MB, Raditude
Raditude is the closest I get to hate but even that has like 2 or 3 songs I love. And I kind of appreciate the weirdness that caused some terrible albums that made me not a fan for awhile. But I'd give love to Blue, Pinkerton, Maladroit, White, EWBAITE and Green.
