Someone on the subreddit said Rivers posted on discord a while back about wanting to do a box set with all the color albums (including a new one) and package it with a set of markers to color the liner notes. So a very real possibility that they are teasing a new album AND are going to try to sell us markers.
Rivers would 1000% just hype up and release markers in the colors of the albums and not get why people thought it was for a new album.
Blue and Pinkerton are unfortunately the most basic but only real right answers, as is taking the ride chronologically, but I also think starting with Green and Maladroit would be an interesting experiment
Hurley being bland is definitely why it's probably my least favorite...Red and Rad both have a bit of a "so bad, they're good" quality running through them. SZNZ was a cool idea but really should have been pared down into one LP or two EPs or something, which obviously defeats the purpose. Just too much filler, and Spring has some of their worst material. (There is some good shit on Autumn and Winter, though.)
I love Pork & Beans, Greatest Man and Angel. King is one of their best songs and the rest of the bonus songs are decent. I find the rest unlistenable especially the three songs in a row the other guys sing
Someone on reddit said: "IIRC, Rivers had an idea in his discord for a boxset consisting of the 5 colored albums plus A20, and for each album there’d be a colored marker that you can use to color in the liner notes. The concept might’ve changed slightly, but I’m fairly confident it’s that."
I think the funniest song in their discography is their Enter Sandman cover where they played it mostly straight but then threw in the guitar riff from the end of the Buddy Holly bridge
I'm nervous if there's a yellow name they will forever have to live with the inevitable "Peezer" meme
Death to False Metal is catastrophically uninteresting but I’m like one beer away from logging on here and writing a five paragraph defense of their Unbreak My Heart cover
