i have a seat for tonight but there are still non-resale general admission tickets in the pit, might see how much an upgrade is. gotta go wild for only in dreams
Saw them in Charlotte the other night, and it was by far the best performace I've ever seen from them. I legitimately cannot believe they're playing Greatest Man and Blast Off every night (among other rarities). Just goddamn they were on fire. And this was my 9th time seeing them I think.
Honestly gutted I missed the Northeast Ohio show, but I'll be goddamned if I ever go to Blossom Music Center ever again in my lifetime (which is a shame because Weezer said it's one of their favorite venues in the country).
As someone who tells at least one person to stop talking at every single show I attend, if people are talking during OID at the Forest Hills show...oh man.
Especially wild that they're playing Only in Dreams in its entirety and Greatest Man back to back haha
https://consequence.net/2023/06/rivers-cuomo-best-weezer-album-sznz/ He's not wrong about Iambic Pentameter, it deserves more love. I feel like if Winter was released first it would've gotten a big reception for Weezer oldheads.
SZNZ is great. Honestly, Weezer has been on a hot streak since 2014 (though there are some moments of the Black album that are dumb and I refuse to acknowledge the Teal album's existence).
Idk, SZNZ ranges from awful to great but Winter and Autumn have some clear standouts, maybe a few from Summer. It's just such an ambitious and scattershot project that I never find myself reaching for it. Some of the production doesn't help.
Angels On Vacation The Sound Of Drums Blue Like Jazz What's The Good Of Being Good Cuomoville Thank You And Good Night Can't Dance, Don't Ask Me Get Off On The Pain Tastes Like Pain Run, Raven, Run I Want A Dog Iambic Pentameter Basketball Sheraton Commander Dark Enough To See The Stars The One That Got Away The Deep And Dreamless Sleep I made a SZNS playlist that I have no trouble getting through. Sure I'll get hate for Can't Dance but it's catchy and has the only thing resembling a Franz Ferdinand riff on that album lol. Could tighten it up by cutting a couple but I genuinely enjoyed that much of it. Winter is probably right at White album level for me tbh
"Basketball" is the one, as is Winter. I know Spring is bad, but I tried revisiting Summer and Fall and they both have some real stinkers a few tracks.
