Operatic/theatrical Rivers is secret great but IMO more when he does stuff like the trilogy on EWBAITE and the black hole demos. When it’s just corny with manic tone changes, it hits less good. I was hoping Autumn would be “dance rock” like Jacked Up but with more guitars and power behind it (Weezle clips highlighted some great 10 second sequences) but it ended up being closer to the other EPs in lower tier Rivers pastiche. If Autumn had White style vibe/production, several of those songs would be bangin’.

I can’t get enough of “Get Off On The Pain,” I love the half time rhythm change to the chorus. It’s probably now my new favorite song of the SZNS so far.
Sorry if this has already been brought up in here, but I’m just realizing that Tastes Like Pain actually interpolates Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. I know Rivers said that’s where the concept came from, so that’s super cool to me. specifically it’s the Winter movement which is kind of funny to end up on the Autumn record but it probably didn’t fit whatever the Winter vibe will be
Yeah there are a few of us haha, the polarizing feelings are good imo. Rivers actually getting a reaction out of us!
"Get Off On the Pain" is a ripper even if it sounds like two-three different songs lol And "Taste the Pain" absolutely goes
Autumn is so far and away the best of these EPs, it's not even funny. And Summer was like half and half, so at this rate, Winter should be the best of the bunch. Also, OK Human is still so good. "Aloo Gobi" whips
