Sounds like a show where everyone would show up late or leave early depending on when the EP is being played
Liking this EP ALOT more than Spring. Definitely gonna try for one of those Broadway shows too. Any mention of ticket prices yet?
Bottom of the Broadway poster says “featuring a unique set of Weezer classics” so who knows what they’ll play after the EP each night lol
Rivers was having fans vote on the setlists on his discord. Apparently he's using that to determine what the other sets look like.
Lmao. Songs like "Blue Like Jazz" reaffirm my respect for Rivers. I'm pretty sure he could write Maladroit 2 in his sleep, but instead, he's committed to doing whatever he wants regardless of fan reaction. It rocks
I think this might make me appreciate Spring more in retrospect. They have a certain shared DNA that I appreciate as someone who generally likes concept-type records
Also I take back what I said about this being White x OK Human. It’s really the sound of EWBAITE with the songwriting of OK Human
Really like the songs, but is it just me or does the production sound really off? Trigger drums pumping in and out of the mix like an afterthought, guitars sounding like rivers chose the first preset he could find while tracking then forgot to fine tune them later, overall just very rushed. It’s not so bad to ruin the songs for me but it’s very jarring considering all the initial talk of Jake producing and the wrecking crew etc
The drums sound like those woofy drums on letlives “the blackest beautiful” . Odd but I don’t hate it, I just need to get used to it!
Hmmm... I actually really came around to like Sping quite a bit. I'm hoping the same goes for Summer, because on first listen, I...did not love it. The entire time I kept thinking that each song felt...off. Like each song was missing something or felt out of rhythm. I can't explain it. As of now, this doesn't even come close to Spring for me. But I just listened once through, so I'm sure it'll grow on me.
Don’t find either of these so far to hold a candle to Van Weezer (or OKH though that feels like a less direct comparison). They’re not terrible, but despite a general pleasantness they feel both undercooked and a little indulgent in some of the Rivers tendencies I dislike. (Some of the lyrics and general theatricality in particular.)
I hate to be so bold but 4 listens in this is definitely right around White tier for me. It keeps getting better each listen
