Judging by his notes to self, Rivers is dedicated to never making the mistake of releasing a good record like White album ever again.
If I saw Weezer live tomorrow (Tuesday), what are the chances I would hear anything more than maybe one song from Van Weezer or OK Human? Edit: Looks like they are playing the same general "hits" setlist with a few other songs sprinkled in here and there, per Setlist.fm
If I find a cheapish ticket I probably will, but official tickets are $93 which is a lot, and resale on StubHub is similarly priced.
Seems pretty slim at the moment... seems to be All My Favourite Songs as the only OKH track. I know VW has had a bit more rotation last year but is mainly isolated to Hero, with an occasional The End Of The Game / All The Good Ones? You’d be more likely to get multiple songs off Teal than VW at this point, haha.
I love this band, but their setlist habits are tragic. Short, too many covers, a lack of mixing it up from night to night, not busting out rare songs as a treat... A massive missed opportunity.
Yeah, they put on a great show but good luck hearing more than one song from any album past Make Believe (Teal excluded, which is painful to type).
They would never do this, but they should do a tour where they play back to back nights in each city. Night 1 in a bigger venue for their typical set and Night 2 in a smaller venue where it's all 2014-2022 material. For a band that has released a shit-ton of material in the past 8 years, they literally never play 99% of it.
It really sucks that bigger bands are disincentivized from playing their most recent material these days.
What's even more bizarre is that most of their output in the past 8 years has been very well received by both critics and fans.
