So you’re saying it’s significant that this song doesn’t have embarrassing lyrics? I feel like there have been other Weezer songs with straight forward/non-embarassing lyrics but I can’t recall the most recent single that was this normal.
This song is very Back To The Shack I'd agree. Doesn't make me feel a ton but not bad. How the production sounds is fantastic and enough reason for hype
I’m saying that this track has weirdly normal lyrics and I can’t think of the last single where they went with a track with more straight forward/serious lyrics. Ain’t Got Nobody seems close but that has some cheekiness with “my daddy loves me.” Edit: All My Favorite Songs is pretty normal, as well, and closer to Rivers being somewhat serious/personal. Edit again: Ain’t Got Nobody wasn’t a single. I thought they played it on the radio. Maybe they did but it wasn’t an official single.
Rivers said the album has no pitch correction, no click track, no gridding, drums recorded to 2" tape. It's being mixed now.
I thought of it more as the 90s Green Day label, similar to DGC. Guess I haven’t paid much attention to labels
Yeah the production is really promising but the song itself is not grabbing me much unfortunately I feel like their lead singles are always relatively weak though
The muffled teaser video of a new song is interesting. I’m not a fan of teasing songs through snippets, especially purposefully muffling and obscuring the snippet you get to hear, but I guess Weezer’s gotta Weezer.
New Weezer single leaked. https://www.reddit.com/r/weezer/s/jhY0VnidaF Serious/sincere Rivers is so good. Not the most dynamic or unique track but it just sits so well in the A grade Weezer pocket.
