There's something amazing about a cover of a song, featuring the original artist who wrote and performed the song you're covering.

Weezer is so delightfully strange and nerdy. They are a national treasure.

This was a joy to watch, and the the sincerely positive reception the cover’s been getting virtually across the board makes me smile

Personally I hate how it sounds so much like the original. I like when a cover is tweaked a bit to the artists style. If I want to hear “Africa” I’ll put on Toto. I wish this version had more Weezer in it. I’m amazed it’s as popular as it is.

 

Pretty boring performance. I liked the recorded version well enough. It is a pretty straight cover though. A little more muscle in the chorus I think.
