The only thing I’ll say is that I hope they get rid of the fan service medley that was apart of the Panic tour last summer. It felt like they were just trying to throw a bone to older fans like me. It felt pretty cheap at the time. I’d rather them just play one or two of those songs in full than cram them together like it’s Bohemian Rhapsody.

That medley was one of my favorite parts of the last tour, along with getting half of Only in Dreams

Where I was seated no one knew El Scorcho and I was fucking baffled

  3. I'm having a hard time thinking of a better Weezer song than "Only in Dreams." It's perfect.

Too each their own. Same on el Scorcho though, half the place was leaving during the encore. Did not compute in my brain why people would do that.

I’m gonna revisit Make Believe and the Red album today. It’s been awhile since I’ve listened to them. Maybe I’ll appreciate them more outside the tracks I already enjoy.

My favorite song of all time, and I got it at the first concert I ever went to taboot (7/24/2002).

I'll never forget seeing Only In Dreams live in 2001 (JEW was the opener, unbelievable show) and they had the fog machines and lighting set up to look like they were giant shadows of each member of the band, so you couldn't even really see the stage, only giant shadows. That was 16 years ago and I remember it vividly.

This is a great article, especially Steve Hydens anecdote about “Only in Dreams”

‘The Blue Album’ at 20: Looking Back at Weezer’s Debut, Track by Track

“Quick personal anecdote: The best-looking guy in my group of friends back in my junior year of high school started dating this beautiful senior who could be reasonably described as “out of his league.” One day while driving somewhere in his car he played me a mix CD that she had made for him. “Only in Dreams” was the last track. I remember thinking to myself, This is an instance of life imitating art, because here is my friend dating this seemingly unattainable girl, who subsequently made him a mix CD culminating in a Weezer song about pining after an unattainable girl. Except my friend was dating the girl; so why would she put “Only in Dreams” in the crucial anchor slot of the mix CD? Was this her way of foreshadowing their eventual breakup? Because it’s sort of a weird song with which to end an ostensibly romantic mix CD. Or did she just not care about lyrics?

Looking back, I recognize that my friend wasn’t the Rivers Cuomo in this scenario. I was. I was the watcher. Jesus, I’m glad that was 20 years ago. - Steven Hyden”

Every time I listen to Blue Album I also have to laugh because it’s almost like I forget every single song is a banger. It’s so stacked with unimpeachable tunes, not fair. 1-10.

My least favorite is Holiday and even that song is pretty damn good

I prefer Pinkerton by a hair (it's my favorite of all time), but they are two perfect records from first to last note.

Agreed, they are both perfect from beginning to end. Truly a case of whichever one I’m currently listening to is my favorite. “Tired of Sex” was unlike anything I had ever heard before and “Why Bother?” was my first Weezer encounter.

My brother was gifted The Blue Album in 1994 when he already had a copy and then promptly re-gifted it to me for my birthday in the first grade. It's not hyperbole to say it's the best gift I've ever received because it legit changed the course of my life. I mentioned it in his wedding speech for godsakes haha.

This album is actually really good. Still my 5th favorite of theirs but I don't think it's a bad Weezer album at all

Even though Blue + Pinkerton are by far my favorites, I wish the band would play a show where the setlist was mainly the last 3 albums. I've heard a criminally small amount from those live

Blue and Pinkerton are both perfect but I slightly prefer Pinkerton. Blue has one that's pretty easily my least favorite (In the Garage, though I still really like it), but it's harder for Pinkerton (maybe Falling for You if I had to choose one? That's a great song though)

Also Good Life has been my favorite Weezer song ever since the first time I heard it. Pinkerton came out the same year I was born and my dad was a fan so it's basically been a staple of my life

Garage is probably my favorite on Blue. Least favorites are easily No One Else and Surf Wax America.

Whatever the worst song on blue is, it's a good bit better than Getchoo or Why Bother. They're both incredible albums, but part of what makes blue so great is that it really is perfect 1-10. It's sad that Rivers has spent so much of his career chasing the perfect pop album because he pretty much did it the first time.

I love Getchoo and Why Bother, haha. I think they're both perfect albums.

I like them too I just think the bar is set so high by the other songs as to make them stand out as (relatively speaking) weaker tunes.

Not even because of those two songs specifically but I'd prob argue Pinkerton could have been even better with a different tracklist. Waiting on You, Devotion, and Longtime Sunshine all should've made it.

I think Falling For You is my least favorite Pinkerton song? Idk. Holiday is probably my least favorite Blue as well. This all sounds absurd since I love both those songs.

Also this album is growing on me big time. Happy Hour is excellent. And Feels Like Summer is such a great single, fat better than Back to the Shack or TGFG imo.
