i'll listen to it again. maybe that was the one i liked. i thooooought it was the monster one (i don't feel like typing out the name) but i listened to it a few days ago and i was like "welp, i was VERY mistaken. this is boring." so i assumed my memory of loving a newer Weezer album was actually false. maybe it was the white album that i actually liked! ee!
I liked EWBAITE a lot when it came out but it hasn’t really stuck with me at all. The white album is still great tho
Also I haven't listened to Blue in like five years even though I still think the world of it and I am listening to it right now and guhh
Same. When EWBAITE first came out I was obsessed with it and was jamming it down old school Weezer fan throats. But I never listen to it anymore. White on the other hand has actually grown on me more since it's release.
Also I don't know what everyone's opinion is on Happy Hour but I actually kinda like it. Probably my 2nd favorite of all the PD songs that have been released.
I have a hunch that we'll get the Black Album next year and it will be more on the level of the last two. Kind of wish we would've gotten an EP or a single series with the songs here that work and then gotten Black instead. Weezer has released worse albums and I'm still a fan, so this being half-baked isn't exactly a dealbreaker for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm at the point where they could release an album of like, farts, and I'd still look forward to what's next
my expectations for Weezer at this time are some songs I love on each albums and some that make me all oh come on Rivers and I don't think there's any shot of that stopping
Are expectations for this album really that low? Im not expecting something on par with White album but the singles havent been that bad.
I can't find the source but I remember Rivers said the black album was going to experiment with samples
I have a feeling this will be my least favorite album by them. I've said it before but even their absolute worst songs have memorable melodies that stick with you, and for me the only songs like that so far are Feels Like Summer and Weekend Woman. I feel like he sings like three notes in Happy Hour. That and Beach Boys are probably the weakest melodies Rivers has ever written imo, and the production is just boring. I'll still listen to the album and probably enjoy some of it but I have the lowest possible expectations I could have for a release from a band I love
They may have released half the album, but at least they saved the best tracks ("QB Blitz" and "Sweet Mary")
Agreed. Haven’t listened to happy hour yet. But I actually think 3/4 tracks I’ve heard I like quite a bit. “Feels Like Summer” is a way better single than “Back to the Shack” or “TGFG” as well. Edit: “Happy Hour” is ok. They were definitely right when they said it was a sad song wrapped in a sunny package. Similar vibes to “Can’t Stop Partying”. I think it’s ok! I actually think this first half is really cohesive from what we’ve heard, which I like. Edit 2: “Mexican Fender” is underrated in here
Im digging these new songs for that they are. They're enjoyable, but I really just like the nerd rock version of Weezer the best.
