Good to see some more open-minded Weezer fans.. I'll try one more time to rank Weezer albums the HONEST way.. 1. Pinkerton (Absolutely No.1, the album that got me into them) 2.Maladroit (follow up to poppy sounding Green, darker, heavier, sweet guitar solos) 3.Blue (Yes.. it should be above Maladroit but you know.. in the end it all comes to personal preference I just enjoy Maladroit more than Blue ) 4. Green/Hurley/White/Ewbaite/Make Believe (Equal Love. I skip like 2 or 3 max songs from these albums) 5. Red (Dreaming, Angel and the One, Pig, King from Deluxe Version are the only songs I like... 4 out of 15) 6. Raditude (Prettiest Girl in the whole wide world and The Underdogs from Deluxe Version are the only worth tracks listening IMO 2 out of 14 ouch)
Yeah there's an insane amount of unreleased material out there from the early 2000's. A lot of it is better than what we got on record imo.
I have a huge Weezer b-side library, and I'm pretty certain I don't have them all...and I have a lot. Cool thing is how good the band & fans have been about sharing the wealth. They're all fairly easy to find online.
The weird thing about there being so many great Weezer b-sides is that the only actual official b-sides album they've released is hot garbage
I really don't get it. I've heard so many fantastic songs that were never officially released and they thought shit like "Blowin My Stack" would be better to release
I actually really like Red, especially the Deluxe edition (King is one of my all-time favorite Weezer songs). Maladroit is more the weezer style I prefer (darker, a little harder) but a lot of the songs miss with me. I don't go back to many songs other than Keep Fishing, Take Control, Slob. Honestly it's been so long since I've listened to it, I know I like some others, but couldn't tell you off the top of my head. Red to me has some great jams on it...Trouble Maker, Greatest Man, Pork and Beans, Dreamin, Thought I knew, Angel, King. I just find myself going back to Red more than I do Maladroit.
1. Buddy Holly 2. Keep Fishin' 3. Take Control 4. Pork and Beans 5. Say It Ain't So 6. Undone (The Sweater Song) 7. I've Had It Up to Here 8. Cleopatra 9. Island in the Sun 10. Thank God for Girls This was deliberately hard for me to compose since I love every Weezer song ever made, lol.
1. Only In Dreams 2. Across The Sea 3. Waiting On You 4. The World Has Turned and Left Me Here 5. The Good Life 6. California Kids 7. Endless Bummer 8. Burndt Jamb 9. Private Message 10. Haunt You Every Day
what even is this song this album is going to be fucking weird, each song so far has initially seemed like trash but gone on to grow on me substantially. it's certainly different
Even a Weezer apologist like me can't defend this one. And FWIW, "Prom Night" is easily their worst song.
I don't mind this one but I think it's safe to say at this point that this album will be a huge step backwards for them
Not a big fan of that. But still infinitely more interesting than anything off MB/Ratitude/Hurley era so that's still a plus.
I'm all for a Weezer pop album Especially if the songs are all of this quality! Doesn't seem like it'll be one of their classics, but good none the less.
I think my major issue is that with EWBAITE and White Weezer went back to fan service and slight fan service with a Beach Boys vibe, respectively. White album went over really well. And we knew before those two albums Weezer was trying to find a way to be a big time pop rock radio mainstay. I feel like they are doubling down on the beach aesthetic and mixing it with their pop stardom aspirations....it feels a little desperate to me. Does that make a lick of sense? TLDR: White album felt genuine, Pacific Daydream feels opportunistic (So far).
Rivers has always had those aspirations though, he's always going to do what he thinks will make him and his band the most popular. That's just who he is as an artist I think.
