Weezer - Pacific Daydream (October 27, 2017) Album

Oh man that song is awesome!

 

Ehhhhhhh I don't know about this one. Definitely interested in hearing more though

 

It sounds like Weezer has been listening to Mutemath's Vitals and some of the more psychedelic bands of late haha

 

It's a cool song. These guys never take a break!

 

More like, "Feels Like 21 Pilots"

 

I don't think it's all that good, but it's not terrible either. I hated Back to the Shack but loved EWBAITE. Most people did not care for TGFG (although I personally liked it) and The White Album was fantastic. So, I won't let the first single dictate my feelings toward the entire album.

 

I actually hate that song. Which is a huge bummer because I loved the white album. However as much as I hate it, I'm not offended by how bad it is like some of their worst stuff, where it was like they didn't care/know what they were doing. Could actually see this song being a pretty big hit for them. "Endless Bummer" feels like a lifetime ago already.

The new song is ok. It probably would have a better effect on me if there weren't 26 inches of snow on the ground outside right now though

I swear to god Brendan is singing the repeated background gang vocal thing

 

The Black album is half shared vocals with Brendan and Rivers. Red Album didn't work, so they tried this angle for black

 

A lot of this song reminds me of Victorious, which makes sense considering Rivers co-wrote Victorious.

The production sounds like Maroon 5 tho

 

Don't remember what podcast I was listening to. but Brendon talks about writing music with Rivers

I sure hope this is just Weezer being Weezer and releasing one bad album for every two good ones and not actually The Black Album

 

So. After a few listens I actually prefer it quite a bit over "Back to the Shack" and I think it is way more replayable than "Thank God for Girls". So in that regard I think it's a successful first single. I say this because I believe the 2 tracks I mentioned are the weakest entries on the respective records. So still a good chance Weezer continues its late career winning streak.

 

Feels Like Summer.....I mean, this is a River solo song, not a true Weezer song, right?

I think i'd enjoy it with a traditional band arrangement.

 

The live version of "Feels Like Summer" really cemented how boring/bland of a song it is imo. Not even Rivers in a giant sun costume could save it

 

Rivers & Scott have another Japanese album coming out, lead single is enjoyable, actually sounds kinda like Wind In Our Sails in the chorus
