In The Mall rules, Africa rules Falling For You is in the running for “worst” on Pinkerton, alongside Getchoo, but its still like an A+ song. Somethin’s gotta be on bottom
The bridge is the best part. The rest is close to a Maladroit b-side. Less catchy than the rest of that album and the lyrics stink. Guitar sound works and that’s about it
Getchoo's great but it's easily the weakest song on the first two albums. Probably including bsides tbh.
Standing by my opinion that as good of a song as it is, "Across the Sea" is weird as hell and my least favorite Pinkerton track for that reason alone
Butterfly is one of my all-time favorite Weezer songs...mostly for sentimental reasons as when my friends and I were in high school, we'd sing it at every party we went to (and then immediately go straight into Pink Triangle). Now we sing it at weddings, haha. (Pre-Pandemic, of course)
I remember singing "Butterfly" for a high school girlfriend over the phone lol (not necessarily because of the content, but because it was one of the first songs I learned. pretty sure I taught her "Island in the Sun" too)
I just meant amongst the same group of friends who are attending the wedding that attended the HS parties. Not like, getting on a stage and singing it to the couple, haha.
Yesterday, my wife asked me where her Mason Jar was, and I immediately broke into the first few lines of Butterfly and she had zero clue what was going on.
watching the stream right now, pretty cool overall. I still never really came around to this album or re-visit it a lot, but it's a nice addition to their discography
That video is cool, but I would have loved it more if it was only the choice cuts from OK Human and a bunch of older tracks.
