Literally all of their albums (outside of PD and Black - again for Weezer standards) have done well. So have their tours.
I think Weezer is wildly influential. Every pop punk band has also said they loved them also, and even older bands from the early 00s cite them. I literally heard a ska band reference My Name is Jonas in an album released in January - everyone loved those albums. That said, I don’t think most of those bands they influenced have listened to Pacific Daydream. Or whatever. I think Weezer changed the game for a lot of people, but that’s what they did. And I don’t think they’re super relevant to the modern music world. So yeah - they can tour with Green Day and Fall Out Boy. But even though they influenced way more than those bands, they’re the opener. That’s my read on the situation at least.
It’s the same deal with multiple tours Weezer has done with the Pixies, the Pixies are always the opener even though they influenced Weezer way more than vice versa.
unfortunately I think that’s true for Jimmy. There are a ton of people who consider Them a one hit wonder
Maladroit is great and one of their top-tier albums but it is not better than Pinkerton, one of the greatest rock albums ever.
My test tube clear vinyl arrived yesterday. I picked that one because of the rarity, but I'm starting to think the slime green is so much cooler looking. This album keeps getting better and better for me. Such a mellow vibe, and goes by so quickly. Been listening to it in full almost every day since release.
Really enjoyed this and did not expect to. I’ve really only liked Maladroit from them before (honestly have barely heard maybe 1/3 of their discography outside the singles) and this really blew me away. A lot of fun.
I do genuinely think that, while I really liked the short rollout, most Weezer fans don’t know this exists. I’m not sure I would know Weezer had a new album if I didn’t read Chorus.
If I hadn't checked this site I wouldn't have known about OK Human and I'd be wondering where Van Weezer is at
I will say there's also some streaming provider weirdness. Like, when I said to Siri "Play the latest Weezer album", it played Van Weezer, since that's technically "newer".
Yeah my gf who loves old and new Weezer had no idea this existed or was even out until Alt Nation played All My Favorite Songs randomly
There was barely any physical releases except a limited number online. That might of done it. I hope this doesn't persuade them to chase pop trends again
I've been going through their entire discography non stop since OK Human, and (maybe it's just a beautiful phase) I've come to believe that there is no "bad" Weezer albums, only "less good" albums. I've found myself even enjoying Raditude and Hurley (I blame 2020).
Probably 2022 considering they're supposed to be themed after the seasons. Start with Spring and then release one every few months.
