Picking a ‘worst song’ from Blue, Pinkerton, Green and Maladroit is just so hard. All four are basically perfect in my mind, but more than that are absolutely linked to every nostalgia receptor in my mind since I was a teenager listening to all four. Related: if Pinkerton was released in 2021, I wouldn’t give it a second listen because of the lyrics on it, so I guess I’d say Across the Sea is probably my least favorite now based on that. But when I was a junior in high school? That was my favorite song period, not just on the album. I think I have complicated emotions with basically every Weezer album prior to 2010. It’s never simple, even though they’re my first favorite band.
The Pinkerton b-sides are so fucking good. Tragic Girl, Longtime Sunshine and You Gave Your Love To Me Softly would probably all crack my top 10 Weezer songs. Devotion and I Just Threw Out The Love Of My Dreams wouldn’t be far behind.
I’d feel comfortable putting Waiting On You in the top 5-10 Weezer tracks. “I asked you if you had a good heart / You answered yes I’ll never do you harm” is just something else.
“I Just Threw Out the Love of My Dreams” is better than anything on Pinkerton, and I’ve always been convinced they should have made Rachel Haden an official member.
when Rivers comes in with the backing yells on the final "HEEEE'S IN MY EYES, HEEEE'S IN MY EARS" >>> most music
Blue - Only in Dreams (No One Else) Pinkerton - No Other One (Across the Sea) Green - Island in the Sun (Simple Pages) Maladroit - Death and Destruction (Space Rock) Make Believe - Haunt You Every Day (The Other Way) Red - Pork and Beans (Everybody Get Dangerous) Raditude - If You're Wondering (Love is the Answer) Hurley - Unspoken (Smart Girls) EWBAITE - Ain't Got Nobody (I've Had It Up to Here) White - Wind in Our Sail (Jacked Up) Pacific Daydream - QB Blitz (Get Right) Black - Byzantine (Too Many Thoughts in My Head) OK Human - Numbers (Screens) Only one that was truly difficult was Maladroit.
I don't feel like doing best/worst for all of the albums right now but I will say that I want to fight whoever say The Good Life was the worst song on Pinkerton That's honestly probably my favorite Weezer song
When it comes to interludes I have trouble weighing those as full songs when I rank things, idk. But sure it def could be the "worst" haha
yeah imo that is clearly one of the best Across the Sea Waiting On You The Good Life No Other One El Scorcho Devotion I Just Threw Out the Love of My Dreams Pink Triangle Long Time Sunshine Getting Up and Leaving Tired of Sex Why Bother? You Gave Your Love to Me Softly Falling For You Butterfly Getchoo I Swear It’s True Tragic Girl
i feel literally the exact opposite lol - blue > pinkerton, but pinkerton + its bsides > blue + its bsides Could convince me Susanne is the best Weezer song though
I was wondering when we would get to the part or the thread where we rank besides but yeah Suzanne + Mykel and Carli are incredible. Perfect album with perfect songs left on the cutting room floor
White is really good, I take back what I said about it earlier in here. Whole thing is great besides TGFG. Easily their best post-Mal album. I'd call it my 5th favorite.
It's pretty cool though that at this point Weezer has 5 albums where it's actually effort for me to pick a least favorite track. And it's really close to 7 except White and EWBAITE it's easy for me. But really for me, 7 Weezer albums that I can listen front to back and easily listen to anytime. Pretty happy with that.
