This is the track list I’ve been rolling with. Just choose whatever version of each song from the bundle is your favorite! Also, some users on allthingsweezer.com have done a great job at remixing some of the songs and putting together track lists.
ok human has a lot of whimsey that you may hear on some Beatles records (wouldn't necessarily say this record sounds like the Beatles) and Rivers lyrics are interesting - no pun intended they sound very human and some are really goofy but in an endearing existential type of way. my early favorites are: Aloo Gobi Numbers Play My Piano Bird With A Broken Wing La Brea Tar Pits
true - they essentially played only blue and cover songs the last time they heavily toured but that makes sense cuz the covers record was huge and it was the 25th anniversary of the blue record
I saw them twice between EWBA and White and I remember being stunned when they played "eulogy for a rock band", "Go Away" and "California kids."
I was watching video clips of them playing some festival in South America at the end of 2019 and the crowd was really getting into End of the Game. I feel like the last single they put out that translates well to the large crowds was Pork and Beans. I definitely think with EOTG and Hero charting so well, they're gonna actually push this album on the tour and throw in a few songs in the set.
I’ve seen Weezer twice. First was on the White tour and it was...not great, (actually took a few songs for them to get going tbh) and they did that medley and it was honestly one of the lamest things I’ve seen at a concert. I knew it was coming because I had peeped a set list from earlier in the tour. Left me with such a bad taste in my mouth. Also I’d say 30% of the crowd left after Panic at the Disco. Just not a good show. Saw them again on the tour with the Pixies and they were much better. Show was still a little gimmicky but way more fun and the crowd was older and much better. Solid set list as well if I remember correctly, lots of covers though.
Not knowing how long they’ll play, I think there’s room in the set list for newer stuff just because they’re playing the big arena rock show. They won’t be playing Island in the Sun, for example. Probably not Beverly Hills. And I doubt they’ll play covers. None of those really fit. You can still do your normal Blue+Greatest hits and play a few off of Van Weezer, I think, in that context. They’ll want to be matching the energy of FOB and Green Day, and that’s how they’d do that.
They’ll absolutely play those 2. I’m willing to bet on it haha. It’ll be a greatest hits setlist with 2 maaaaaybe 3 van weezer songs. These are some of the biggest crowds they’ve ever had, they’ll definitely pander to the casuals. This is assuming the tour ever actually happens and I’m pretty pessimistic at this point
My only times seeing Weezer was the tour with Panic At The Disco and a radio station festival where they were the headliner but played only 14 songs. I need a proper Weezer headliner show in my life.
The only time I saw them was on the Make Believe tour and I can't really remember any of it. Edit - Just looked up the setlist and they play 0 Maladroit songs which is insane to me. I know it's not a big hits album, but they only had 5 albums at the time so I'm surprised they completely neglected one of them.
if Hella Mega ever does happen, I could totally see Weezer do a cover or two. Green Day always does a cover or two themselves, after all.
Can confirm they were great when I saw them with The Pixies. Definitely a greatest hits/covers set, but this was also before we knew about the Teal Album, so the covers were a welcome surprise. Could have just been the excitement of crossing them off my bucket list, but I thought they sounded great and it seemed like both the band and the crowd had a lot of fun
They will 100% play Island and Beverly Hills. Probably also do Take on Me and Africa too. They may not have played a stadium tour before, but they've definitely done large festival crowds. It'll be similar to those. In fact, I'm willing to bet the setlist would be identical to this one, replacing the Black Sabbath, Nirvana and Turtles covers with Hero and 2 more Van Weezer songs.
it would be neat/weird if each of Weezer, GD and FOB covered a song of each other's. (if concerts ever happen again)
Anyone ever get to see them back in the 90s or when they were playing smaller venues? I wish I could have seen them then!
I really and truly think y’all will be surprised at the setlist when this gets off the ground. I think from everything they’ve said, they’ll be catering the setlist to the audience and venue, and that means playing the newer stuff they‘ve held for a year in anticipation of this tour. If not, there was just no point in not releasing it - they could have put it out last year, played Hero every night and been done with it. I think they’re approaching this totally differently than other tours and shows they’ve done. But, honestly, Weezer has been a different band than I’ve wanted them to be since I was about 18 years old. So I’m probably totally wrong lol.
