I maintain this is how all rollouts should be. When you have months between a single and an album, you cool off on your excitement. I’d guess most Weezer fans heard this and immediately got on a Weezer kick and are extremely excited now in a way they wouldn’t have been if this was releasing in April or whatever. That, and we have 9 new songs Friday instead of like 5 or 6. It’s just better all the way around.
I've been listening to some compilations of Rivers unreleased material and wow. Turns out he could've been pumping out Pinkerton level albums all this time which is kind of hilarious. That said I've been finding that I may have been too harsh in my judgements of certain past records, I'm really enjoying diving through their discography again
Really feel like both albums this year are gonna fall somewhere in my Blue Pinkerton Maladroit White EWBAITE Green Tier. The albums I could put on anytime. If so that would be awesome. Since both albums have a clear theme, I feel less risky about getting hyped considering I love everything from them so far
"The British Are Coming" has my vote for the most underrated song on EWBAITE, so great. The only song on the entire album that's not great is "Back To The Shack," I'll go to bat for every single other song on the album.
You know what, I think I'm too hard on Hurley. I could be too in the moment of my Weezer fanhood, but I'm enjoying the shit out of it. Sex is the only weak spot in the first seven, and Smart Girls and Brave New World are hella generic but I can get through those unlike the bad ones on like Red and Raditude. Memories is so goddamn fun. Plus IT. WAS. IN. JACK. ASS. 3. D! I think I'm bumping this up to my 7th spot right now.
can't blame the guy for churning out music that makes him money - maybe it's selling out but as I've gotten older I just want these dudes to be able to make money for their music haha
I keep saying it but EWBA is an amazing Weezer album Echoing the British Are Coming love, I fucking looove that song. Chorus gets stuck in my head all the time and the guitar is amazing
I can’t tell if it is because it reignited my love for weezer after the red/raditude/Hurley era, but it flip flops with white as my 3rd fav. Back to the shack is the only song I don’t love on it but even that isn’t a bad song at all.
I downloaded the ewbaite bundle but haven’t sorted through yet. Any links to someone that has organized it in a way that makes sense?
