Very excited to see how many records they can pump out over the next decade before he promptly retires
I think most of the "bad" Weezer albums aren't actually that bad, but I still think Blue and Pinkerton are an untouchable 1+2 combo. The next tier includes Everything/ White/ Mal /Green in some order. After that I honestly can't rank/tier, as they all seem pretty much interchangeable in terms of having a mix of decent/annoying songs.
While I personally love Make Believe, if you take MB, Red, Rad, Hurley (and probably Black too) out of their discog, I think the consensus from fans and critics would be that Weezer is the best band of all-time.
I was never really on the Weezer message boards, but I did participate on the street team during the Red era and I got two red vinyl for free just for writing some positive Amazon reviews.
I mean, I'm kidding of course, but the reason most people (outside of this forum) haven't taken Weezer serious in 10-15 years is because of those albums I mentioned, and therefore didn't ever bother to check back with EWBAITE, White, PD. If those albums were released directly after Maladroit, I don't think the band would have had a huge fall off in popular opinion.
I agree...though I think Make Believe slides more into my keeper pile than trash pile....Red, Raditude, Hurley and Black could maybe pull 10 songs combined to make 1 album
Green is such a good album. I'm not sure how people don't have it in the top 3/4. I said this before, but I feel like the best songs on the new albums are just lesser versions of the pop songs they made on this one.
Weezer Setlist at The Observatory, Santa Ana I was so close to going this show and I’m mad I couldn’t. Look at that setlist
Ever since someone pointed out that every single Green Album solo is just the verses as a solo...fucked me up.
pacific daydream is closer to their worst than i remembered. this is very bad. raditude had more fun songs than this.
most songs that have solos in this “genre” just solo the verse melody. that’s not that unique. it works for a reason.
With the exception of Mexican Fender, I think PD starts weak and then is pretty smooth sailing after Weekend Woman.
Weekend Woman is one of the best on there though but yeah Any Friend of Diane’s, La Mancha Screwjob, Get Right... all great stuff to me
Sorry, what I meant was that Weekend Woman is honestly my fav song on the album and then the rest after that it good too haha
Damn, La Mancha Screwjob and Get Right are the only songs I DON'T care for on that album Wish Ocasek could've talked them out of the whistling
