Maladroit definitely third best weezer record. Still should've included Big Chip and High Up Above, though.
Exactly! It's unhinged! It's as weird as anything they've done in 20 years! And on top of that the falsetto! A classic Weezer song
if i have to read about gorillaz one more time during these serious conversations about good bands i’m going to simply keep posting through it.
One could make the argument that Maladroit is the 2nd best Weezer album (outside of lyrics). I think it has as catchy of choruses on the majority of the album as Blue, is weirder and allows the band to branch out in ways they didn't on the debut. There's a few songs that could be cut and it isn't as "perfect" as Blue, but I could see the argument being made.
also forgot how good/weird hurley is. it has their worst song but a good amount of wacky other shit they hadn’t tried since the 90s
I like a fair amount of post-Maladroit Weezer material but if all those records were deleted from existence I don’t think I’d lose any sleep
Blue is as perfect of a pop rock album as you can get, but I still am baffled that so many people don't have Pinkerton #1. It's so good it isn't really comparable to the rest of their work.
Weezer hasn't made an album above 6.5/10 since 2002, I don't spend time listening to the songs they cut off of their middling albums!
This is the most hyped I've been about Weezer since the EWBAITE roll out almost 7 years ago. Thanks to this thread!
Make Believe Red Everything Pacific Daydream Black Honestly Hurley and White barely crack that mark for me
make believe, red, and everything crack that for me with two or three basically perfect songs each, even if they have some trash did you forget raditude
