Generally “12 Days of Christmas” doesn’t do it for me, but The Muppets version with John Denver is excellent, as is the rewrite Andy Williams did. “White Christmas” also depends on the interpreter. If you do it wrong, it can be awfully dull. Elvis’ is a snooze. And Otis Redding’s version might be the only bad song he ever cut.
Most of the other ones may be bad but they also help put me in the Christmas spirit. This one just makes me want to run away from it now lol
I love “Wonderful Christmastime”, but it is a comically low-effort song. Harmontown took the piss out of it for several minutes a few years back, and rightly so.
Wonderful Christmastime is great but I agree it shouldn’t work as well as it does. Those who don’t like it might really like the Allie X version. So good. worst song is the “j-I-n-ggggg-l-e bells” one. Don’t care to look it up but sounds super cringe.
Unpopular music opinions ahead! I can't stand this song and the horribly dated synth that accompanies it. Everything seems to be falling out of time with itself because of that synth patch. I think the existence of this song is actually what soured me entirely on Paul McCartney.
