Almost shamed to admit that at one time I thought Yellowcard was over once, in my opinion, Lights and Sounds really disappointed, and the subsequent hiatus. So glad I couldn't have been more wrong. The trifecta of Paper Walls, WYTTSY, and Southern Air is just so so good. Really liked the farewell self titled as well.
Figured that OA and SA would be the runaway leaders in this, but I'm a bit surprised to see Paper Walls and the S/T get so little support
I voted Ocean Avenue on pure nostalgia factor (it's also still a dope album tbh), but this did inspire me to spend all day listening to their entire discography. OA was one of the OG albums that introduced me to this type of music, in fact it may very well be the first - I remember listening to it in my room in middle school and being absolutely blown away.
Paper Walls. Ocean Avenue was my introduction to YC, but unfortunately a lot of it doesn't really hold up for me. I can still listen to Paper Walls front to back 12 years later. Plus it's always going to hold a special place in my heart because of the time it came out. 2007/2008 was a very big transitional period in my life and that was the exact sort of album I needed to hear at the time.
My maybe weird Lift A Sail take: it's very front heavy for me. Like the first few songs are spectacular and then the back half doesnt do as much for me.
Been listening to them since right after OFTK was released and my ranking is: WYTTSY Southern Air Ocean Ave PAper Walls OFTK Lights and sounds ...... Lift a Sail S/T wtf were they thinking with those last 2 albums.
I think a 10 or 11 song version of Paper Walls would have helped its standing. This poll reminded me that while Yellowcard has some of my favorite songs, I still listen to their entire catalog on a regular basis, and they've been truly dynamic... I don't think any of their albums are end to end masterpieces...anyone else agree?
Southern Air Yellowcard Lift a Sail Ocean Avenue WYTTSY Paper Walls Lights & Sounds Truly love all of their albums though.
Paper Walls for me. Then WYTTSY Ocean Avenue Southern Air One for the Kids Yellowcard Lights & Sounds Lift a Sail
My ranking would be Southern Air WYTTSY Paper Walls Lights and Sounds Ocean Avenue OFTK ---- S/T Lift A Sail I, too, have real difficulty connecting with the final two albums. I don't go back to them at all.
