With the release of Thrice's Palms coming tomorrow. I thought it'd be fun to take a look back at their previous releases and discuss our favorites. With the new album not being officially out, I'm going to leave it off the poll. Stoked to see what you guys think.
I view Vheissu and Beggars as being head and shoulders above the rest of their discography. But I’m hard pressed to pick between the two.
Tough choice between Beggars and Vheissu. Five years ago I probably would’ve gone Vheissu but it’s Beggars now.
Picked Vheissu. For me, it is the epitome of what I've always loved about the band. Dustin's deeps on this album still blow me away. Hearing The Earth Will Shake live gives me goosebumps every single time. It was also the album they were touring from my favorite concert ever.
Vheissu for me. It's the album that got me into the band, and at the time I wasn't really listening to a lot of music like this. I was so impressed with the instrumentation (the Rhodes ahhhh) and Dustin's screams gave me goosebumps everytime. It's still the album I go back to most from Thrice. Honestly, TBEITBN is pretty damn close for me at this point.
Can't rank Palms yet but Vheissu followed by IOS followed by Beggars followed by the rest pretty much equal to each other depending on my mood.
Beggars keeps inching towards the top. Wasn't in my top 3 a few years back but now is - and easily so. I can see it climbing the older I get...something about the mood/production on that album that hits home now and trumps the nostalgia and smack in the face Vheissu gave me after headbanging to IC/IOS/TAITA for 5 years.
Vheissu has been my favorite Thrice album for a while now. Before that, TIOS was my favorite album, but I'm not sure I would say Illusion is clearly my second favorite album. It's probably in a tier with Beggars and TAI.
Beggars all day you mother fucks. I get the importance of Vheissu, and I love it, but I find Beggars to be their most solid work.
Fan since 2002. Thrice has been my favorite band since Vheissu Vheissu > TAI (I consider this one album. It was recorded and intended as such) > Beggars > TAITA > M/M (controversial pick I, know. Treading paper is in my top 5 Thrice songs) > TIOS > TBE (still a very good record) > IC
