Self Righteous is probably the only song I don’t like, but OOTV has some solid b-sides to make up for it.
Self-titled by a billion miles. It’s honestly not even close. Blue and OOTV each have a few jams, but I skip around those albums a lot. I don’t care about anything after OOTV.
Biggest injustice this band did to themselves was tacking on the outro to Red Summer Sun twenty minutes after the final track That complete song is a barnburner
I found the full version of The Red Summer Sun with the solo at the end online years ago and replaced the album version with it on my computer and ipod. It flows into Camouflage perfectly.
Blue > debut = OotV > Ursa > everything else surprised Blue is not closer to the debut but also kinda get it
I listened to the 2017 live album “Summer Gods” on Spotify today and came away with a few things: - It’s insane how fresh Jenkins sounds despite his age. His voice hasn’t aged at all. - The band is incredibly tight live, and the songs hold up well in a live setting. Brad Hargreaves is a super underrated drummer. - Jenkins remains one of the most overall cringey frontmen in rock. His interactions and between-song banter with the crowd are sooooo bad.
Hargreaves has been underutilized on the past few albums and it’s noticeably missing from their sound, he’s been a key component the whole ride
“A Collection” because it has most of the best of the first 3 albums while also allowing me to pretend that they disbanded in 2006
