Funny backstory. I created the Anberlin thread back when Chorus started, and I made the same poll for favorite Anberlin albums. I also mistakenly put “Vitals” by accident. Once I noticed, I tried to change it and couldn’t. I just let it go, but it bugged me for a couple years. Then, a couple months ago I randomly messaged @Jason Tate and asked him if he could fix it, and he did. Then, like 5 days later, they announced their reunion. It was just extremely weird timing. Made me and Jason laugh. So that’s what I was referring to. You are not alone in messing up that album title on album polls.
I discovered them through New Surrender so that got my vote, but Dark Is The Way... is a close second. I got to see them tour both of these albums on Soundwave Festivals in Australia. Didn't mind Vital but never listened to Lowborn. Might do so this year for the 5th anniversary.
Truthfully, the album I listen to the most has got to be Cities, but that album doesn't need anymore votes, haha. I went with Dark is the Way... because I really admire what they did with that album and feel that it doesn't get enough love. It was also a bit of a redemption after New Surrender being a bit disappointing.
Cities is my favorite, but I’m in the minority that actually likes New Surrender. Miserabile Visu is such a good closer.
Out of curiosity, why the general dislike for New Surrender? It’s definitely not a great album, but it’s also not terrible.
Honestly it’s bc they took the scream out of FGD In all seriousness though for me I don’t really care for how “bouncy” a lot of the instrumentation is. They’re not bad songs but it’s not a sound I really like. That said it’s got some top tier tracks on there too.
I'm not a huge fan of the poppier songs (Haight Street is a banger still though) Overall it's about half good to great, half eh for me.
