We'll take a break from the decades discussions right now and come back to those soon. This week, let's talk about our favorite action films.
Tom Cruise is definitely the best action star in my mind the Mission Impossible series Minority Report Edge of Tomorrow Top Gun
Jurassic Park Aliens Snowpiercer Fury Road Captain America: The Winter Soldier Commando Predator Casino Royale Goldeneye Skyfall Mission Impossible 3 The Dark Knight Sin City
First R-rated movie I saw in the theater as a kid (I think I saw it before I saw the first two movies) As for personal favorites: T2 Aliens Lethal Weapon 1 & 2 Escape from New York Robocop Point Break Speed The Rock Face/Off Kill Bill Heat Die Hard 1 & 3 Predator True Lies
Action is probably my least explored genre. I haven't seen most of the movies that have been mentioned so far. I meant to watch The Raid years ago but it's kept slipping by. I think I'm going to try to check it out tomorrow
Mad Max: Fury Road is probably the greatest pure action movie ever made. So I guess I'll go with that one. Also, John Wick because reasons. The Dark Knight's action is pretty horribly directed so definitely not. Good movie though.
I disagree. If anything the action scenes are one of the better parts of the film. The story drags on waaaaay too long, Batman's motivations seem strange at times, but Ledger gave a stellar performance. That main chase scene was fantastic the first time seeing it. As was the opening.
Skyfall, if that counts. To be fair, I'm not a huge fan of action films. So partially I love Skyfall for how little action is in it. But the action scenes are all beautifully shot and visually distinct.
Yea, I'm not exactly sure what counts either. I wanted to say Collateral in my post but I don't think that movie has enough action in it.
Great movie though! In all honesty, most movies are more than just one genre. Collateral is at least partially action.
