Hahaha was not expecting a scene from the Netflix Original YA series Wednesday to remind me of Come and See
Just finished the last episode. I was entertained but I'm not sure I actually liked the show. Based on the online fanfare, I was expecting it to be much more fun and campy, but outside of one or two memorable sequences, I found it bland and the dialogue often painful. There were some pacing issues for me, with critical plot advancing scenes happening one after another without much build up or tension. The amount of exposition didn't help. Other than Wednesday, which carries it by a lot, I found myself only caring about Thing and Bianca, with the other characters being either wooden or off (really not a fan of the casting choices for Morticia and Gomez, and Fred Armisen took me out of it anytime he was in a scene). Those I loved and who were hamming it up when the scene asked for it like Weems and Kinbott sadly don't make it. Season 2 better introduces new exciting characters to make up for those losses. The mystery and the twists were engaging anyway but I hope Season 2 will be a bit more character driven because there's potential in Bianca's backstory. I'm interested in seeing how the various relationships evolve, like Enid's with her parents as well.
Overall I did enjoy this. Jenna Ortega was excellent and deserves the hype, worth the watch but I didn't entirely love the plot and some of the pacing seemed a bit off.
Me and the wife just finished. Loved it all. Cool vibe. Super fun. Yes it fills a void left by Sabrina. I may have enjoyed this slightly more?
Wild it's taking so long. I would have thought they'd capitalise on how well the first season did with at least a year later follow up.
Yep, I don’t get Netflix for releasing tv shows like this at random times of the year. The first season of Sabrina did really well because it came out on Halloween. They were lucky with Wednesday because it was near Christmas, but I’m not sure how spring will fair.
