I like Carolina murder suicide a lot. And I like Gary’s II a lot. I wish they weren’t back to back though

Love that they’re coming here again; hate that it’s the same night as a Ratboys show that was just announced. Oh well, Wednesday it is

  6. Love that they’re doing two nights at Rev Hall, hate that they’re happening right when my wife and I are planning to be in New Orleans for her birthday

been forgetting to post but yeah i love this. not sure i can compare to rat saw god at this point but it’s definitely a worthy follow up and already has some of my favorite wednesday songs.

I definitely prefer this, but I do love RSG. This one was just way more immediate and it continues to grow on me. Can’t get enough of it.

I think the peaks on RSG are a little higher but I’m digging how fun of a listen this is comparatively. I gotta be in the mood for a record w bull believer 2nd

Apparently in Asheville all guitarists are named Jake and all drummers are named Miller lol

Okay after repeated listens, the gap between this and Rat Saw God is not as large as I initially thought. Certainly doesn’t top RSG but as good of a follow up as you can realistically hope for

The softer songs still aren’t doing a ton for me though, apart from Elderberry Wine

Checked out this yesterday and was very impressed. The more mellower tracks passed me by a little as I don’t like country/americana/whatever it’s called. But when they get heavier? Ooof. Good shit.

Currently listening to Rat Saw God as well and digging it a lot. I avoided listening to them for a while as I checked out the MJ Lenderman album last year and it bored me, so assumed the band would be more of the same. Glad to say it isn't!

I see people talk about MJ Lendyman a lot and don’t actually know who or what that is. Didn’t know there was a relation to Wednesday until this thread (which I guess shows how little attention I pay, idk).

I feel like he’s gotten so big that I’ve had people I’ve talked to know him and not even know he’s associated with Wednesday

  25. He plays guitar in this band and his solo work is very good, but more alt-country/indie-adjacent. Jeff Tweedy/Wilco vibes.

Hm. Maybe I should check out his stuff and see if it has some of what I like about Wednesday. Though also, I don’t really find myself getting into new artists/bands fronted by men too often these days, lol.

I find a lot of his solo stuff boring personally
