Really I'm just glad to have anything new with Brian's voice on it. I'm cool with this new band especially if it's better for Brian's mental health to put Weatherbox on the backburner for a bit.
I listened to this before but it’s rad none the less! Such a bummer since it sounds like even AJ expected a new record to come out.
@incognitojones Listening to Weatherbox helped me stop believing in god, or atleast whatever I thought that meant as a kid. From a discman on early teen vacations til now, he somehow makes sense while making absolutely no sense. The records establish a world where the devil and god are both characters and Andy Hull can be as much a part of a song as drugs are. I don't really know what to say, you get it or you don't I think, but I showed my girlfriend and it changed her life a bit. The Cosmic Drama art is done in Vonnegut theme and it makes sense - it's existential, it's absurd, it's occasionally funny and sometimes it doesn't make sense but it all matters If you don't like it that's way okay but uh, if you do lemme know
I took the drugs and I drugged them down And it folded and bent my brain into a crown To place on my head at the end of my life Or who knows, maybe just at the end of tonight
Oh I think I did play this, the art looks familiar for sure, I guess it had no impact on me at all, so that's funny
Hey fair enough - everybody's different! Would recommend The Cosmic Drama if you feel like giving it a whirl
The existential/absurdist stuff sounds right up my alley, and I do love Vonnegut, just musically I'm not blown away. I'm listening to the one song, the build up and the Devil and I part was chill, but I'm not like blown away or that intrigued. You did hype it up a lot.
This feels more full and interesting, but the vocals still feel bare bones. I guess that's a choice, but I want harmonies. There are some! The end has cool screaming in the back, really adds a layer.
