Clicking on Cregger's Wikipedia page revealed some very funny and some very disappointing information.
Funny: He started off in a comedy troupe called The Whitest Kids U' Know (their bad spelling, not mine). Disappointing: His next movie is Resident Evil 8.
No. I have heard the name a few times but I assumed they were associated with MadTV or something like that.
I havent watched it through but there are a enough bits that crossed over into meme culture that he would know
Na he can absolutely cook with a RE movie. Tetra as a fellow gamer I’m disappointed you don’t see the vision.
In every season of the Wire there is one character who tries to buck the system they are in and end up paying for it significantly. D'Angelo Barksdale and McNulty in season one, Frank Sobotka in season two, Stringer Bell and Bunny Colvin in season three, Prez and Carver and Bodie in season four, Augustus Haynes in season five. A good director making a franchise film is in the same boat; the awfulness of the system is probably too much to overcome. There is also the issue of making video games, a medium about control and choice, into a linear story. Books to movies works because of the ability to craft images, but video games to movies is sort of like going backward.
he isn't adapting any of the video games directly though. he has said numerous times he just loves the games and had an idea for a zombie movie while playing them. feels like more and more genre movies have to get shoehorned into IP to get made and if it's going to be an extremely loose "adaptation" i don't really care much as long as it isn't set in raccoon city or some shit like that it's fine who cares
If I remember he had written a while ago and after the success of Weapons got the offer to make it or something like that.
