My mom, brother, and I watched this tonight and I just love the "oh no I am undone"ness of that final sequence. Gladys screaming and running is so absolutely hilarious and satisfying.
Why is the teacher showing up to her class after the bell and with students already in? That is unprofessional.
I have been guilty of leaving my high schoolers alone for a minute or two but when I taught middle school those kids were savages. I wouldn't trust them with the good scissors.
She is stopping at the liquor store right after leaving school which is completely accurate about young elementary school teachers.
I feel like this may have been brought up before but I do find it funny that in the intro the narrator talks about a lot of people dying, which doesn’t really pan out
isn't there a line about her having to leave her last school for driving kids home and having an inappropriate relationship with one of the school administrators or whatever? i don't think the implication is supposed to be she is a good teacher.
She also got that one guy off the wagon and slept with him even though he's married. Obviously that speaks to his character too, but I think the impression is she's not exactly a positive role model.
What the fuck. It’s set by districts here but I’ve seen third grade classes with 30+ kids in Minneapolis.
The biggest lie in movies and shows is when teachers are hanging out in the teachers lounge. Even during lunch most of us are grading papers while eating our sad lunches.
That’s not true, my school is a revolving door of teacher shenanigans. If you’ve been doing your job long enough the busywork subsides
The only time I see anyone go into the lounge is to make copies, grab their food from the fridge, or use the bathroom.
There is one guy who treats my room like the lounge and he has an hour plus commute so I don't know when he gets anything done.
Oh the lounge part is true, only freaks go to the lounge I try to avoid it. We hang out in each other’s rooms
